Naruto Re-read?
Sep. 1st, 2006 11:39 amHi everyone,
Okay, the idea is blantantly stolen from the
fma_reread community, but I really like it, so here I am.
I'm wondering if any of you were interested in re-reading the Naruto manga together. Basically, there would be one post per week covering one volume of the manga (This is just an example, but since there are so many chapters already, one chapter per week definitely wouldn't ork. We'd never catch up. *g*) with a brief summary, the new things we learned back then and things like foreshadowing. We could discuss the chapters, remember our favourite moments between the characters or mention things we, for once, didn't like. (All in a friendly atmosphere, of course.)
It's just that I'd love to do something like that, but I can't do it on my own. (But hey, Naruto is all about teamwork anyway, right?) So, would anyone here be willing to help me, or is there any interest in this project at all?
Please tell me what you think about it.
Starlit Nights,
Schattenstern

Date: 2006-09-01 10:08 am (UTC)Maybe we could do three or four chapters a week. I think a whole volume a week would be pushing it, and real life interfers too much and too often for it to be a daily thing. We wouldn't want anyone to miss disussing a chapter cause they
were hungovergot food poisoning and spent the day worshipping the porcelain god. Or whatever. Twice a week might work out, say Wednesdays and Saturdays?no subject

Thank you for your suggestions!

Date: 2006-09-01 03:13 pm (UTC)Maybe half a volume a week would work better. A lot can happen in a whole volume, but I agree a single chapter would be too slow. We might also want to point out where the good translations are and things like that.

Date: 2006-09-01 03:31 pm (UTC)I'm currently doing quite a bit of planing, and I like the idea of two posts a week with two chapters each. That way it's almost (one chapter is missing) half a volume per week and we can still concentrate on details. [I'm writing that first post with two chapters right now to see what it's like and I think three chapters would probably be too much... or maybe that's just because chapter 1 is longer than the others?]
Anyway, great idea about the translations. There could be a locked post about them so the discussions can still be visible to everyone.

Date: 2006-09-01 03:47 pm (UTC)Thanks! Nothing sucks more than to be arguing about something only to realize the translation you read is totally wrong. :D Maybe the chapters being discussed could also be put up for download, in case people don't have a copy with them.
