Brainwashed by Naruto?
Jul. 4th, 2005 01:13 amA few days ago during Math lessons I noticed that someone carved the word "Gaara" followed by the japanese word "ai" at the corner of the table i was sitting at. I was sooo~~ happy that there's another Naruto fan who sits at that table!! In the end I learn nothing 'cause i was too distracted by that. This good friend of mine happened to sit next to me and she was totally like -_-||
A few weeks before that we were having a race of some sort and then while I was running I suddenly thought of concentrating my chakra in my feet.(Like how Sasuke did to gain speed to dodge Haku's needles XD). I kept that in mind so that I had something to concentrate on other than how tired I was. I didn't win in the end but hey, at least I managed to finish the entire thing without stopping! Usually I would have just gave up halfway. I'm so proud of myself =DD The next day I told that same friend about it and all she did was to roll here eyes u.u
There was also once when she lent me a copy of Archie Comics. I immediately turned to the back of the book and started reading from right to left (subconsciously! I swear XD) Of course, I couldn't make head or tail of what is happening. I told my friend that and she turned to looked at me with this weird look on her face. It was then that I realised that I was reading it the wrong way >.<
And just yesterday, I was out shopping with a bunch of friends. One of them mispronounced the word "anime"(she said "eh-nee-mee"! How absurd is that?!?) and I gave her a super long lecture on why doing that was the greatest sin in the world ever committed XD Jokingly of course. But I just had to! We can't have people going around mispronouncing one of the greatest things ever created, can we?
Well, that friend of mine was there too.
Her conclusion? I've been brainwashed by anime. Especially Naruto.
My conclusion? She doesn't know what she's missing out on!
Haha. So, has anyone else here been brainwashed?

Date: 2005-07-04 11:14 am (UTC)But I think it's a good thing to have something to rave about. It's better than taking everything with an "eh, whatever" attitude. It may seem silly to people unfamiliar with Naruto, but doesn't everyone have some sort of "fandom" (whether it be of movie, singer, hobby, profession, or money) that makes them squee, makes their day and gives them something to go on? And in some cases makes them unconsciously change their habits?
And like how you found a carving on a desk and was glad that there's another Naruto fan, it helps you make new people. Speaking from experience, it's amazing how easy it is to strike up a conversation with a stranger sitting next to me when I'm using a Naruto image as a desktop! A nice thing to have in a computer lab.
If this is called brainwashing, I'd say it's a good one.

All hail King Kishimoto!!
Haha. I love you guys so so much!! I should show my friend this page one day to prove that I'm not the only one and it's perfectly normal to worship Naruto XD
Oh have I mentioned I love you all?

Date: 2005-07-04 01:48 pm (UTC)And I've noticed recently, when i go to a store see if i can find some new clothes... i tend to seek out something that would remind of.. ANYTHING that a character in Naruto would wear x_x really!
And I love to wear just for fun that Konoha forhead proctor of mine (around my neck of course)... not everyday though XD But I really love to imagine that I was a real Konoha ninja (might sound ridiculous said by a 21 year old XDDD)....
right...
And my desire is to imitate villains of Naruto x_x my recent problems iRL had just encouraged me to think that... I'm an angsty little bastard like Sasuke for example <_< but... i guess that's true. I am XDD

Date: 2005-07-04 03:41 pm (UTC)Yes, Naruto should take over the world! It would be a better place full of ninjas, ramen, and a place where its alright to pursue your dreams as a sexy homicidal cloak-wearing weirdo.
And its okay if your head is a plant...
Or you want to kill everyone ever...
Or you can pull bones out of your body...
or...

Date: 2005-07-04 03:49 pm (UTC)I think you do have a point there, and I've mentioned it myself before. It really does give you something to go on, and there are a lot of lessons in that show/manga that are just plain good to learn ^_^
Also, for a lot of people it's really gratifying to be a part of some large group of people sharing the same mentality. Naruto is a really fun fandom to be a part of, there's a lot of jokes and good feeling spread around. Being part of a big group like this that has members all over different parts of the world even, its pretty cool. We feel all special ^_^

Date: 2005-07-04 05:35 pm (UTC)I also keep reading comics and others things from right to left.
Let's not even discuss how many times I misread or mishear things... erm, for instance, in your post when you said "She doesn't know what she's missing out on!" I read it as "She doesn't know what she's missing out nin!" You know... missing nin. Aheh.
I find a bunch of
not sosubtle ways to slip Naruto references into daily conversation, and on school papers.I've also had a few dreams about Naruto, one of which involved a phone conversation with Sasuke's long lost uncle, Mark Uchiha. XD
I need Naruto rehab!

Really. Hmm.. I should try that sometime. Hope it works for me too XD
I find a bunch of

Once during an examination we were supposed to write an essay on 'Friendship'. My mind immediately went SakuraIno! and I wrote about their past. You know, the ribbon thingy and all. I wrote a ShikaIno fanfic once too XD

When I used to live in a quiet suburb, I thought my school had no hope for crazy anime fans. They were just not interested. *gasp* One day some kid in the older grade came to school wearing a chuunin vest. And I think I was the happiest girl at that time. I pointed it out to him and I showed him my anbu tattoo and now we're friends. xD
Now I live in a busy part of New Jersey, and seeing people wear an Uchiha symbol on the back of a t-shirt is considered an everyday thing. Hee. =D
