Time Jump

I have a question. I was under the impression that the manga time jump was only two and half years. I'm pretty sure that's what it said in chapter 245. I even just went back and re-read it and I still see it saying 2 and half years. If it was only 2 and half years wouldn't the Konoha rookies all only be 14. I thought the only ones who would be 15 were Gaara, Lee, Neji, and Tenten. I could be wrong but I don't understand how the Konaha rookies would be 15.

it works because time passed during the first part of the manga. It covers a year. Then there was a 2 and a half year jump. So if you take their ages at the start of the series, you should add 3.5 years.

But where did it say they were 13 before the time jump. I've seen it said that Gaara was 15 now and I know he was a year older than them.

They were twelve at the beginning of the series, and it's been implied that the events take a year. If everything that happened before the time jump happened within six months, they could still be 15.

I was under the impression Gaara was the same age as the Konoha genins, and that Kanky and Temari were older then him or something.

The second official character book has data from right before the time jump and in there a few characters, which are 12 at the beginning of the series (and that age is mentioned in the first character book) are 13 now. So part 1 really covers a whole year.

Because of that... if you add 3.5 years it works ^^"

The second databook puts the nine Rookie Genin from Konoha and Gaara at 13 years old before the time jump. Pre-time jump Lee, Neji and Tenten are 14, Kankurou is 15 and Temari is 16. Now add two and a half years, and you'll get their ages post-time jump.

Makes sense I guess. I know most animes I watch don't really skip time even thought it's been on for a while, sO i just assumed it was the same.

The reason some of them are older than others could be because their b-days are closer or farther apart. BUT MAYBE I'M JUST CRAZY. D:

Unsurprisingly, my perspective comes from Akatsuki, who I think state at the end of their huddle as the first arc ends; 3 years from now. So I was assuming that Naruto and Gaara, going into their 13th year at the start of the first mission arc (12 when they graduate) are now around 15.
