New Fanart

I know I always say I'm going to stop doing fanart since I'm no artist but I'm decorating my apartment with my crappy drawings and some of them I feel like sharing. 

 

So here is my little Chouji one.  His skin is really off, but as far as I can tell currently that's the only problem.  But you're welcome to critique it more.

 

Here's my midway point on this picture.  You'll notice the change in skin tones after I added the background colour.

So now he's a bit pinker.  This may also have to do with the light source the picture was taken in.  All my drawings are done in pastels so, even if I had a scanner, I couldn't scan them in.  So I use my camera to load them onto my computer. 

I'm going to work on his skin tone some and possibly load the newer version up on my DA account.  My next project is a Shika one to go up on my wall and then I have this awesome Naru picture that I'm going to attempt.

Aaawww, look at his little face!! I think it looks better when the skin's pink, but is there any way you could make it slightly lighter maybe? I know nothing about colouring in pastels -- I wouldn't colour anything by hand anymore -- so I might be talking about something that's impossible, but I just thought I'd say it.

To make the tone lighter it would get rid a lot of the pink quality. I mix pastels to get the skin tone I like. So I first start off with a brownish/red colour and then from there I use whit to lighten it to what I like. However, I started off the base colour too dark so it was nearly impossible for me to lighten it enough. Why I stopped was b.c the paper was starting to rub off, which you can see on his forehead.

I've got a few good pieces of Bleach fanart that I've done recently but I print them and put them in my special folder. I'd love to have them on the wall all around me too, but my boyfriend wouldn't like that so meh...

I live in a small studio apartment by myself so it doesn't matter what I put on the walls, as long as it doesn't damage it.

On the other side of this mini-wall (it's basically a divider between my living room and bedroom) I have an art collage. Its pictures I've taken, postcards and magazine cutouts of art and just popart things that I'm putting on the wall. It actually filled up faster than I thought, so now I'm expanding it outwards. It's actually pretty awesome. I'm hopefully going to fill up the rest of my apartment with fanart and cutouts as well.
