animenewsnetwork.com posted that Tony Danza will be doing Orochimaru. I found it funny that his voice in japanses was done by a woman who did ursala in kingdom hearts...
Tony Danza? Is that a f-eeing joke? (I also saw him listed in the va list) As in who's the boss? Like MO-nah! An-Jah-Lah! Sah-Man-tha! So one better tell him that the character is named Orochimaru not Tony. And that he is a effimante villan with the makings of a pedophile and is not apt to give stern lecutres on why its good to get an education!
I really hope so. Because the guy (Tony from who's the boss) has a really thick brooklyn accent that sounds like he is always smiling so..... not really a good image for a villan.
They don't automatically post any information submitted, especially for something as closely watched as the Naruto Dub; the editors check for credibility.
Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean their information is always true, but they are more reliable than many other sources.
Now, see, this is absolutely ridiculous. Tony Danza? Come on, people, that's just silly.
Yeah, I know, and Kujira-san is perfect for Ursula. I actually think that she actually voiced Ursula in the movie, too, but I could be wrong. I wish I could hear it myself! But that would mean hearing Donald and Goofy for the entire game and their Japanese voices freak me out.
So right OK when they said Naruto was being played by Johnny Young Bosh? And Sakura was being played by Rachel Lillis? And Gaara was being played by Eric Stewart? Ummm yeah.
Anyways, I think the info originated from IMDB, who's notoriously bad about things like this. The idea is great, though. If it was true, it'd be the greatest dub ever. I mean, Orochimaru is my hero, and come on...Tony Danza! :D
Look at the voice cast for the english Princess Mononoke. Actually I'll just show you:
Gillian Anderson .... Moro (voice: English version) Claire Danes .... San (voice: English version) John Di Maggio .... Gonza/Additional Voice (voice: English version) Minnie Driver .... Lady Eboshi (voice: English version) Tress MacNeille .... Additional Voice/Ironworker (voice: English version) Jada Pinkett Smith .... Toki (voice: English version) Billy Bob Thornton .... Jigo (voice: English version)
I left the more recognizable names. "Hollywood" actors have also done voice acting in Howl's Moving Castle (Billy Crystal, Will Friedle) and other of Miyazaki's works. Uma Thurman, Michael Keaton, and Cary Elwes--just to name a handful.
So not only are you overreacting and being incredibly rude... you're wrong.
I don't think you can use an anime that Disney brought over as an example, honestly. Disney has access to Hollywood stars regularly for their animated works, it's only natural they'd also use them for the animes they dub. It's not exactly the same sort of situation for Viz and Funimation. Their 'stable' is of entirely different horses.
There's a big difference between a Miyazaki production and a moderately popular television program. Miyazaki is world-renowned director and his productions are a big deal. They're acknowledged by major media sources.. example: Howl's Moving Castle was on the front page of the Entertainment section of the New York Times. They're a big deal, which is why they would obviously seek out larger names and better actors for the English translation.
Also, compare the work necessary upon a two-hour movie versus an ongoing series with over 100 episodes. The production quality on a movie is clearly going to be much better.
And I mean, movie theaters all over the country versus Cartoon Network once a week? Yeah. Exactly.
Yeah sure. They're both Japanese animation. But it's like saying that a low-budget Sci-Fi flick should have the same quality of actors and production as a Steven Spielberg film. They're both movies, right?
But whatever. Go on and think that Tony Danza is going to be playing Orochimaru. Have fun with that. And remember: THIS IS THE INTERNET. AND IT'S SERIOUS BUSINESS. DON'T MESS WITH OUR ANIMU OKAY ^_____________^
This is your first official warning from a maintainer of this community to be nice or get out. We don't need people like you here making it into such a negative environment.
I can't believe people are actually believing this.
*How* many times have we seen clearly questionable people listed as being the Naruto dub at this point? How many times has info at ANN and IMDB been *completely wrong*?

My friend and I joke over how Orochimaru sounds like a 50-year old chain-smoking Japanese woman. (No offense to the seiyuu. ;)
