There's a LQ version of 278 raw out on narutofan.

Chiyo-baa is using a jutsu to bring Gaara back to life. Though it's going to kill her as a result. I can't imaging what kind of contribution Gaara is going to be able to make to the fight without Ichibi. Controlling massive amounts of sand like he used to won't be possible. It wouldn't suprise me if he had practically no chakra stamina left, weeing as how he's probably been relying on the chakra of the Ichibi, at least in part, for his entire life.
At any rate, Chiyo-baa is going to die.

Well.. It's not so surprising after all because Chiyo told of the jutsu earlier so it wasn't any surprise who she's going to use it.
But the chapter was good.
(But I was hoping for Sasori.. But not then. ;__; )

For some reason I saw that coming a MILE away and as for Gaara and his chakra, you're right. I wonder how he's going to handle it, watch him be extremely weak in trying to stand up because he can't keep that layer of sand around his skin.

It's just going to be so weird I guess. Gaara is really no longer going to be bad ass without that california sufer wannabe racoon in him XD DUDE.

I feel somehow very greatful for Chiyo-baa. She's going to die soon anyway so... I think it's very noble to favor to bring back Gaara... especially for her being the one making him in to a Jinchuuriki in the first place.
Also it makes me very happy for Temari and Kankurou.

About Gaara's future... it might that he won't be able to carry out his life as a shinobi he used to be... but it's not the end. I'm sure new paths will appear for him.

Also... I've grown so fond of Gaara, that reading the last chapter made me cry all the way trough... even when I partly saw what was coming.

Hate to break it to you, but Akatsuki has Shukaku now. Remember? It was sucked out by that summoned monolith that akatsuki was powering during the Itachi/Kisame bunshin fights.

Life without Shikaku is gonna suck. He found his reason to live in protecting his village, now he can't protect them anymore? I just hope he's still able to do everything he was before. Maybe he wasn't relying on Shikaku's chakra this whole time? Haha wishful thinking XP

I know, I am not sure Kishi would want to drag this for this long. I mean, first Gaara's death angst, then Gaara's life without powers angst. Can we get some plot now???? Or Gaara is going to serve like a living breathing proof to Naruto how bad his life can turn out if he becomes Hokage and loses 9-tails...

Same thought I was thinking when I was reading all these comments about "Oh no! Gaara will be MISERABLE without the Shuukaku!"

No no, no sarcasm about that! Seriously, though it will naturally take a lot of adjustment, if Gaara makes it through (as it appears he of course will! ^^) it will probably improve his life enormously. No more sleepless insanity, no more murderous rampages, no more people being afraid to get close to him in case he freaks out and kills them...it could be very good.

And anyway, assuming he cannot do anything without Shukaku *is* pure assumption; we can't know what he can do as he's never been without it! After all, how many of Gaara's jutsu certainly came from Shukaku? How many of Naruto's come from Kyuubi? Sure, he won't have the same chakra amount, but then again, what he will have is an unknown quantity. People are being pessimistic about his future, but it could turn out well. ^^

Heeeey, yah! He can SLEEP! He can relax! XD Another good point of getting that Shuukaku sucked out of his soul. And as you said, he'll probably be able to get more friends (And become the VILLAGE PIMP like Naruto? :P) and work his life back up.

I believe the main reason people are pessimistic is that most people mainly admire his kickass sand skills, and now he's ... starting back on first base. I think, I think, Kishimoto is showing even IF you lose insane amount of power/source-of-all-your-coolness (Okay, I can NEVER sound serious), there is still some good things that come out of it! ... I blame English for making me see these kinds of things.

I have full faith that Gaara, with willpower and support, can become a normal ninja like he always wanted to be? XD *CORNY*

Something also to consider- wasn't it said at some point that Kyuubi was merging with Naruto? If Shukaku had done that with Gaara, then it is actually possible to ENTIRELY remove it from Gaara? Or would he still have some of it that merged? Plus, I don't think Gaara will stop being kick ass. He'll just be kick ass in a different way. I mean, Kakashi is kick ass and he doesn't have a monster in him. So is Neji, and Jiraiya, and Lee, and all the others. It's just that now Gaara will be kick ass entirely on his own merits.

Hmm and also, I'd think that Gaara already has a lot of Chakra... I mean, Naruto kinda summons "Kyuubi Power" but Gaara doesn't exactly summon "Shukaku Power"... I'm guessing they both are just able to tap into their bijuu chakra. Perhaps Gaara'll just lose his Shield of Sand. Hopefully he'll still be able to whip up a little sump'n sump'n with sand, sans Shukaku.

Blighted his life, yeah, but he apparently learned to live with it. The boy just lost everything. Period. Kage status? Gone. Strength? Gone. (He doesn't seem to specifically summon Shukaku's strenght the way Naruto does the Kyuubi's, but people seem to forget that their seals were done significantly differently.) The sand-based attacks (if Yashamaru's one speech has any merit) and quite possibly the automatic shielding? Gone. Everything he's worked for? Gone. His latest life's purpose, even - Gone. He's got the ability to sleep now, sure, but it's going to be a hell of a lot harder for him to get people to need him - which was the entire reason he decided to become Kazekage to begin with.

Not to mention: Remember when Sasuke arrived in the spot where Naruto and Gaara both fell after their fight? Sasuke turned on him, and I got every impression that he would have killed him while he was unable to fight back if Temari and Kankurou hadn't landed in the way.

Well, now we've got Gaara too weakened to do much, and there's doubtlessly more than a few people at Sand with grudges against him.

Hmmm... interesting point to bring up. But that Anima (FFX reference.. XD) statue sure seem to do a thorough job... O_o; Isn't the reason of jinchuuriki dying is BECAUSE the demon/bijuu was fused with their soul? Hrrrrm...

Whoohoo! XD I wonder what kind of ninjutsu style he would use now he's supposedly without sand powers.

And a totally RANDOM subject to bring up, I wonder if Gaara's mother would come to light again? Wasn't Gaara kind of "attached" to her, somewhat? Especially in that scene where he was fighting against Sasuke, and he was muttering to himself/to-his-mother about feeding her blood. >.>; Now with the Shuukaku gone... what now?

*shrugs* Honestly, same here. I'm annoyed by the manga to the point that I'm probably giving up on it. Yes, the annoyance does include how Sasori and Deidara were gone before we could say much more than "Oooh, *insert VHD reference/handjob crack here*" or "Jeez, Sakura's fight is taking forever." :)

Gaara is the son of a Kazekage. He might have to make some adjustments, but with time and help from his siblings (two things, at least, that aren't "gone" as you say) he'll be far from helpless.

Well, I love Gaara...he's one of my favourite characters, a very awesome chap, but...it's been a lot of months and I had pretty much adjusted to his fate already and now it's here, I don't have that much energy for it, really.

But I am interested in seeing how he gets on. I want to see sasori danna's man with Orochimaru really. Anything with Orochi makes me happy. ^^ I think my major major disappointment though is none of the 'good' guys died. None of them ever die. There is no suspense there, no fear, because they're unbeatable, thanks to them manifesting on the spot whatever cheese they need to get through without a hair out of place.

Kishimoto should have so let the Sakura stabbing go all the way to death. And maybe let Gaara stay dead too. Then the whole arc might have meant a lot more, might have been more of an impact. He nearly did it, but then it all rather stuttered to a halt.

But I hope it picks up again.

I don't think there's too much to worry about with Gaara...Shukaku might not have been giving Gaara too much power. We know Gaara had a difficult time keeping Shukaku from taking over his body, so the idea that he was skilled at using Shukaku's power seems a little off to me...After all, Kyuubi only slipped power to Naruto when it was in his best interest, and it seems like the stronger Naruto gets/more often he calls on Kyuubi's chakra, the weaker the seal gets.

Plus, even if a large amount of the power Gaara used came from Shukaku, Temari and Kankuro are still massively powerful, just from the fact that they were bred to be powerful ninjas...Gaara might not be crazy strong anymore, but he'll still be strong, just not crazy

and if he has no power, that just opens him up to following Lee's path XD Can't you just see him and Gai?

Key words there are 'with time'. It would take a while for him to reach any level of functionality, during which period he'd be walking revenge-bait (as opposed to his standard jailbait). And of course, if he pops up from six plus days of dehydration/torture/being dead sans Shukaku and is immediately far from helpless, I'll disavow the fandom in its entirety.
