I don't know if anyone else has posted about this yet, but look at the latest posts on both of these websites. GOD NO. Kiba is one of my favorite character so..urgh is all I have to say. This ninja will be watching subs only...

"On the next episode of Dragon Ba--er Naruto.." The horror.. The horror.

I'm not really sure how much I should be complaining, considering that I'm the kind of person who tends to dislike just about every american voice actor in favor of the japanese ones. I know for some people, that can be pretty annoying. There are gonna be people who disagree with my dismay over this news, and that's cool with me. There ARE a few dubs that I have approved of in the past, so don't get me wrong. For me though, the naruto one just keeps getting worse and worse. If I had seen the dub before seeing the origional, I would probably never care to see the origional. It's just..bad..

Anyway, does anyone have any thoughts on this developement?

edit:
There was another post about this very recently, haha. Sorry for redundancy. The other one is of a totally different opinion than mine, so now I'm intrigued. Maybe Herbert isn't the voice I am thinking of? The roles he's played are all kind of obscure, except the dragon ball z ones and I wasn't too impressed with those.

If you actually look at his resume of voices that he's done in the past, he has a pretty impressive line-up. He's quite a versatile, experienced voice actor - one of the better ones in American dubbing, in my opinion.

My question is: why start a new thread on this topic when one already exists (http://www.livejournal.com/community/chuunin/1586622.html) in this community? Spare us the spam: see if anyone's already done a post on this topic before you go haring off and make a new one.

Actually, I think with the recently announced voice actors, the dub is actually going to get better. But, you're entitled to your own opinion, of course.

And, since when are Fruits Basket and FMA obscure?

Gohan. GOHAN. Man, ha. The moment I found out I thought it was ironic since my friend Stephanie is in love with Gohan and Kiba. And now Kiba = Gohan, and she's litterly joygasuming ... hell she even commented up there in large letters.

I mean I don't see how they are obscure, he was in FB and FMA and he was Gohan in a hugely popular show in America, not only that but he was the ANNOUNCER in DBZ... let me tell you guy is getting MAD payments. I bet hes laughing all the way to the bank.

If you have anything that even REMOTELY resembles private, you shouldn't tell Aoba.

Instead, you should spray paint it across Hokage Mountain; fewer people would find out. ^^

Hahahaha! Not gonna lie. That got me laughing outloud to the point in which I'm telling you about said laughing out loud rather than coming up with something clever to respond with.

Yes, Kyle did Gohan AND the Narrarator for DBZ. He also did Farman in FMA. He also did some creepy chicken on his demo MP3. Do any of them sound exactly the same?

No.

I assume Kyle'll pull out something equally as different for Kiba, and he'll do a great job like most of the cast has done.

Either get into the dubbing business or quit your bitching >.>

My response to your response to my response is that I posted my comment before you made your edit. :)

I haven't been following the dub, mainly 'cause I don't have time to watch TV at college (WOE), but at least it's nice to know they're making some effort at recruiting experienced voice actors for the series, no?

The dubs SUCK. Sorry. I know a lot of people like them, but I've been watching the subs for so long that I can't stand listening to the English voice actors butcher the show. I know some of them are really good, but there's a reason why anime is supposed to be in Japanese. Because it's from Japan. Duh. It's hard to directly translate something from Japanese to English and still retain the contextual value. The dubs just aren't good. It's too obvious that the voice actors are READING from a script. My favorite character is Kakashi, and he sounds more like Bill Nye the Science Guy giving a documentary about volcanoes or some other random school-ish type thing. Quite frankly, I watched about 5 minutes of a dubbed episode and wanted to cry. I've been thinking about making this post for a while, so I figured why not now? I think I'll stick with the subs. Their quality far exceeds the convenience of hearing everything in english.

I just want to add that the reason they are voice actors is because they can make their voice fit the character.

Kyle Herbert is incredibly versatile. He did a voice acting panel for Animazement, and besides the fact that he's just a really cool guy from what I saw, he's also capable of changing his voice at the drop of a hat. He did several voices for everyone, and they were SO DIFFERENT. Takei from Fruits Basket sounds nothing like Farman from FMA, neither of which sound remotely like his speaking voice or what sample he did from DBZ at the panel. He's been deserving a shot at a bigger character for a while, so I'm glad he got it.
