More sharingan

Here are some pics comparing the two Mangekyo Sharingan's..
I don't think that Itachi was lying to Sasuke. But maybe the ancient scrolls don't contain all the information. Maybe there is more then one way to get the Mangekyo Sharingan, or different forms of it.
Kakashi is an intelligent ninja, so with a combination of being exposed to Itachi's Mangekyo Sharingan, some training over the time jump and maybe some research or investigation, it looks like he has come up with his own version of the Mangekyo Sharingan.
I believe that Kakashi has got a version of the Mangekyo Sharingan. It is different from Itachi's but it also very similar too.
The fact that the 3 commas have joined to form a whole pupil in both cases, and also Kakashi can use (although not properly) Tsukuyomi, the genjitsu technique, makes me believe that he has got a Mangekyo Sharingan.
BUT, Kakashi has to use a hand seal to active his Mangekyo Sharingan, where as (as far as I know), Itachi doesn't.
They also have a different appearance.
Something else that comes to mind. Around the time that Itachi and Kisame come to Konoha, either during the battle with Itachi or after it, Kakashi says that the more you use the Mangekyo Sharingan, the more it impares your normal vision and sends you blind.
This makes me think that Kakashi already has his Mangekyo Sharingan at this point in time, which is really early on in the series. Otherwise how could he know that it sends you blind from using it too much? Does he have access to the Uchiha ancient scrolls? Or did he just get that information from the battle with Itachi?
Also, when was the last time we saw Itachi without his sharingan on? Not since he killed his clan.
So is Itachi going blind? Who knows.
But, in the manga, when Kakashi reveals his Mangekyo Sharingan, he says something to the extent of, that he has obtained it during the time skip or something to that effect.
So I don't know what to believe.

Date: 2005-12-21 05:20 am (UTC)As for Sasuke, he hasn't attained it yet, at least as far as we know. When he reappears in the manga, I'm confident we'll find out pretty quickly whether or not he has it.

Date: 2005-12-21 05:46 am (UTC)And yah, there is a chance that Kakashi did kill one of his friends. Seriously, they never explained what happened to Rin, and I see hardly anybody who even questions that. Yah, it's natural to be skeptical and say, "Why the CRAP would he kill Rin?" But who knows? Maybe that's why he got the Mangekyou? Hmmm.
But for the different pattern for the Mangekyou? I have no idea. XD; Maybe it's unique for each person? It seems Kakashi has a different ability for his Mangekyou (a strange rip in the space-time continuum, what the shanizzle?)... I wonder if Sasuke will have a different Mangekyou too, well, if he ever gets one.

Date: 2005-12-21 05:59 am (UTC)I still have a feeling that they're very different from each other and that we can only credit Kakashi's genius for being able to develop his eye that way. It is definitely a different version of the mangekyou, as similar as they appear.
Itachi is going blind, as Kakashi has mentioned. OH THE IRONY. *Runs away from Itachi fangirls*

Date: 2005-12-21 06:13 am (UTC)In the manga, where Kakashi encounters Itachi for the first time after the time jump (chapter 256, I believe), he asks Itachi how far his eyesight has deteriorated. And Itachi's just kind of silent about it... And in chapter 263, Itachi is asked what the Kyuubi Jin-Chuuriki looks like, and even when prodded, he only says something to the effect of 'he'll be the loud one that comes at you first.' The Akatsuki people seems kind of like, WTF don't you have anything more specific? after that... And if Itachi had actually seen Naruto those three years ago, wouldn't he at least be able to say something about his appearance?
Yeah, just my two cents... ^_^
good points...

Date: 2005-12-21 08:58 am (UTC)When I first heard that, I thought that the 3 Itachi was referring too were,
1. Himself
2. The clan member that obtained the magenkyou in the ancient Unchiha scrolls
3. Sasuke
I assumed that when Itachi was talking to Sasuke, we didnt even think of Kakashi because he doesn't have Uchiha blood.
The reason I came to this conclusion is because Itachi uses past tense.
"Itachi told Sasuke that if he achieved it, there would be three people that had attained it. "

He is only saying that Itachi uses a lot of chakra for his techniques... and that he gets tired more easily.

Date: 2005-12-21 11:12 am (UTC)Episode 82:
It's this one. That's the hidden room with the scrolls Itachi is mentioning in the flashback before he leaves.
We don't see Sasuke telling Kakashi about the room. We just see Kakashi training Sasuke a lot before the finals of the Chuunin exam...
But personally I don't think Sasuke told Kakashi about the hidden place...
Re: good points...
Date: 2005-12-21 11:23 am (UTC)Since when Kakashi commented if Itachi's vision detoriated, he kept silent, and after that, a short while when Kakashi explains about the eyesight defect, he went "Kakashi...you.." er, well to the effect that it sounds like at that point he realised that Kakashi had developed mangenkyou or something similar.
I believe Obito's death has something to do with Kakashi's sharingan development... I dunno. personal opinion.

Date: 2005-12-21 11:26 am (UTC)The impair vision part comes in in the fight after time jump when Itachi and Kisame were using their replacements to fight them (and we get to see more of the abilities of mangenkyou)

Date: 2005-12-21 12:03 pm (UTC)I think it probably does damage the users vision, perhaps into blindness; Gai tells Lee not to open the gates too often because the human body cannot stand that amount of chakra being consistantly released into it and it would cripple you. I suppose this might be the same for the eyes, being unable to cope with the strain of bearing this sort of power in the long term.

Date: 2005-12-21 02:17 pm (UTC)Yet for an Uchiha [or a Hyuuga] to go blind would be pretty devastating, I wonder if there would be something...eeeehhh...like being able to only see through the mangekyo, like in black and white...or just seeing very faintly. My best friend as a child was legally blind in one eye but still had some vision left to it. It's just the difference in between being able to drive or not, probably x__x;

Date: 2005-12-21 02:42 pm (UTC)Itachi going blind was never explicitly stated, it was hinted when Kakshi asked Itachi "How bad has your eyesight gotten." Itachi then responds "Impossible." Some believed it was about Kakashi getting the mangekyou, others think he is going blind.
Kakashi states after the bell test that he had a new jutsu. Naruto and Sakura ignore him, but during the chase he activates what he calls the "Mangekyou." Naruto asks him if this is what he was talking about and Kakashi says yes.
Which means something has had to happened during the timeskip. The sharingan would have been activated earlier if that had happened.
