Real-life Gaara?

Okay, so here's the story. I was sitting watching Naruto (as I often do), and my friend Cody shows up and plops this picture he found in a National Geographic on my lap.

...If this is not the real Gaara, I don't know what is. Just...shave off the eyebrows, give 'em a love kanji, and it's perfect.




I mean, even the facial expression and the look in his or her (can't tell the gender, I'm afraid) eyes, and the sand on their face, the hands, hair color, everything... The longer I stare at it, the more baffled I become. Isn't it incredible? I don't know what the context of the article was, unfortunately, though now I'm curious.
