Tsudane and the Sharingan?!

A random thought popped into my head: If Tsudane's youthful outer appearance is the result of genjutsu, then can the sharingan see through it?!

Does Itachi/Sasuke know Tsudane's true appearance?!

Tsunade's technique is a medical ninjutsu. So, her skin actually is younger looking. It's not an illusion.

Even so, can't Sasuke see through ninjutsu like Kage Bunshin to see which Naruto is real? Would that same principle work on Tsunade? Or better yet, since it is a medical ninjutsu, could Sasuke copy it?

Sasuke can see through normal bunshin, but not kage bunshin. Kage bunshin is real, so the Sharingan can't see through it.

I'm pretty sure the Byakugan can, though :D

I don't think that Neji can either, because Naruto divides chakra evenly between his clones so when Byakugan looks in, there's no difference between the clones.

No, he can't. It's a real body, with its own chakra system. Neji can't see through them, either.

And he might be able to copy it if he could see it done, but I doubt she makes the seals for it in public anytime. That and medical ninjutsu is a lot more difficult than other justus in that it requires a lot of skill and control... both of which you can't copy, no matter how much you want to. Sasuke can only copy techniques that he has the capability to perform.

Unless Kabuto's been teaching him on the sly...

... Did Sasuke or Itachi ever see Tsunade for more then like, ten seconds? XD;;; I would be more worried for the byakugan, really, seeing as it's all over the village. Compared to our TWO users of Sharingan which aren't even in Konoha anymore.

That's what I thought too, but it almost doesn't make sense, because if it was a genjutsu she'd have to drop it occasionally. The only time in CANON that we've seen it fail is after extreme chakra usage.

No, it's not my thought, I mean I'm fairly sure that a character in canon -- Jiraiya, if I'm not mistaken -- actually said it was. Unfortunately I don't know exactly where; I'm sorry I can't point you to the quote.

Putting aside the fact that we don't actually know enough about how jutsu work to say that someone as powerful as Tsunade would have to drop it once in a while -- just because we haven't seen her do it doesn't mean she never has. If one wore a genjutsu all day, the logical time to drop it would be right before going to bed, I'd think; and we've never seen a scene of Tsunade like that.

During the battle with Orochimaru alongside Jiraiya after Tsunade runs herself dry at the end of the battle the illusion DOES go away and you can see her arm grow... well, old :O but thats it.

I was under the impression Tsunade uses the chakra she stores in that diamond on her head to maintain the illusion or whatever it is, and that it only dropped when she released the diamond, which she only does when trouble is properly abound.

The chakra stored in the diamond is apparently there as part of the restorative jutsu she uses for emergencies -- it was what she used to heal herself in that Sannin/Kabuto fight after being severely wounded. Apparently whatever jutsu she uses to maintain the illusion of a youthful appearance also dissipated as a side effect (probably her chakra was so depleted she just didn't have the energy to maintain it).

Anyhoo, I'm pretty sure the diamond is there specifically as part of the restorative jutsu.
