Renewed Theory on Sai's Brother

okay maybe scrap my first idea about it being Kabuto (yet who still knows lol).

now i'm seriously considering the possibility that Sai's brother is Deidara, after taking a closer look at the new pages Sai drew on his book. they have the same hair, bangs, Sai thinks he's dead which is what most people think when in reality they just went to (the dark side) the Akatsuki (case in point: Sasori). and if you think about it, they're both artists. Deidara with his clay molding, Sai with his drawing...

and if this means anything else... perhaps Sai will live? :D
(because the duty of defeating fallen brother has become rightfully his?)

It's a possibilty... But didn't Deidara come from Iwa? He could've wandered over to Iwa/been lying... but... Hmmm... *trundles off to get the newest manga*

But I definatly suspect that Sai's brother is either in Akatsuki or Sound if still alive. Or maybe something totally new will be introduced to blow all our little crack theorys out of the water ^_^;

it's the part of your argument about both of them being artists that have me sold. Sasori died, yet Kishimoto let Deidara live, it must be because he has a plot point later.

not really from the manga but remember what happened to Ibiki's brother? he switched villages? also Kabuto, wasn't he from Leaf originally? maybe it's not that too hard to migrate to another village in this universe... no wait it is hard lol, that's why each village have each their own assassination squads. well, if Itachi, Sasori were able to evade them... and Kabuto and that Ibiki kid successfully more or less transferred villages, why not Deidara assuming he truly comes from Leaf? (maybe yet Sai was the one who came from the other village.) lol all speculation really.

Kabuto wasn't originally from the Leaf, I don't think. I remember during the chuunin, Anko and Sandaime-sama had been talking about Kabuto's records. It came up that he'd been found after a battle in a different land and taken in by one of the high-standing medical nins. I can't remember which battle though.. What country it had been in.

Also, there's a symbolism with the Akatsuki member's headbands. Every one that we've seen who've worn their headbands clearly had a scratch across the symbol on it. I think it's a symbol of them cutting off all ties and alliances with their native villages. In the case of Itachi and Sasori, they both commited crimes that betrayed their village in a horrible way. Sasori killed the Sandaime; Itachi killed off his own clan, the clan that made up a large number of the police taskforce which helped to protect the Leaf.

While this sort of logic doesn't necessarily mean Deidara originally came from a different village than Leaf but maybe commited a crime just as horrible as Itachi and Sasori, it does seem to be the pattern. Itachi was originally from the Leaf, Sasori was originally from the Sand, and Itachi's shark-like companion whose name I am sadly forgetting is from the Mist, I would think. I could be getting villages wrong -_-;; But that seems to be the pattern. Each has had just one village in their quest for strength. Relying on anyone else, on any "pathetic" village is beneath them now.

And for the record, I'm writing this at 1:29 in the morning on very little sleep within the last three days. I'm also fighting off a huge anxiety attack. If none of this made sense, this is why -_-;;;; Thank you for letting me rant. *bows*

The shark guy you're thinking of is Hoshigaki Kisame. Who was one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist (along with Zabuza) and ended up killing the Daimyo of the Water Country. A crime as bad as Itachi and Sasori's crimes, if not worse.

I really don't think his brother is Deidara, of all people. The Akatsuki seem to have a trend of a zomg!terrible event in their pasts, and, seeing as Deidara would have to be from Konoha for your theory to work (when Kishimoto-sama stated he's from Iwagakure, and there's one Akatsuki member from each hidden village, so far)... well, it just doesn't fit. Nice theory, though!
