Pairing/Characters: Morino Ibiki, mentions/hints of Ibiki/Iruka, Ibiki/Shikamaru, Kakashi/Kabuto and Gai/Akito.
Summary: There came a time in his life to admit it had all been in vain. To build a new home, he needs to burn the bridges with the old one and admit he's no longer welcome there.
Word Count: +/- 5 755.
Author Notes: Writen as backstory for scarred_hokage  at orochiagenda . Not exactly canon with my The Life and Times of a Compassionate Sadist series, but set in that universe, sorta. Ibiki returned to his world for six months in his timeline, two weeks in OA time. And it broke him. This is why. Reviews and comments very welcome.

( Ibiki privately felt decidedly ill at the notion, but as soon as news of his arrival had spread, it was hard to deny he was being subjected to frighteningly earnest scrutiny by any and all. Ibiki knew this was Shikamaru’s fault, and he wondered what the blasted child had been trying to do when he decided to elevate him to current patron deity. And why the fuck he couldn’t have chosen someone else to be his little social experiment, too. )
