	We All Used To Live In Caves ;; Man's story is one of violence, one of greed, and if however-many-thousand years hasn't changed that, an extra fifty won't make much of a difference. If anything, it's just that much more time to spit-shine those combat boots. Its 2058 and things aren't that different. We're still running out of oil. We're still running out of water. We're still running out of oxygen, of greenery, of ozone, of arctic, of space. The only thing we're not running out of is nerves. We're nervous. Each nation, each faction, each billionaire is starting to shake, to tremble ever so faintly as the pressure keeps mounting, desperation keeps mounting, tension keeps mounting. Any second now, someone is going to flinch. When they do, the rest will pounce and devour. There will be a sudden frenzy of action, of reaction as weaknesses are finally revealed and everyone scrambles for the top of the heap. The desperation is already palpable in the air, sticking to the back of the tongue everywhere in the world. There are some that deny it. That still cling to the near-archaic 'green' living that will supposedly save them all. The smart realize that it is merely a matter of time, and so rather than waste that time on ideals, they have been preparing. They have been investing in the only thing that will be worth money before long. Bodies. Around the world, laboratories and training facilities have slowly sprung to life. Within their confines, children are being harvested and grown. Modified. Enhanced. Trained. Yes, within those walls is the next wave of big money: Nation-less soldiers. They are mercenaries, assassins, modern day ninjas. And they can save your life, or end it and that of all you've ever met, if you sign the right dollar amount on the dotted line. And they can do it with organic weaponry you've never even conceived. Or at least, they will be able to. Eventually. Once they're done training. And all the kinks have been worked out of the mutation process. We're close. On the verge of a breakthrough. Really! (Stop looking at us like that.) The first five waves of the experiments have finally grown to full maturity and been plucked from their international facilities to participate in, and help hone, the ultimate death-dealing curriculum in the heart of the Nevada desert. Welcome to the top secret Nevada Facility, home of the first genetically altered super ninja! (Watch out, it bites!) Um..didn't I read somewhere that someone wanted a wallpaper of the new manga cover. You know, the one with all the jinchuuriki? Well, I got off my lazy ass and made myself one. I'm willing to resize it to a more widely-used screen size if you want, just let me know what size you require.

This might be a bitty bit out-of-le-blue, but I have a little discussion I've been having with my friends lately and I want to know what you guys think.

What exactly do you think is the main reason for Naruto's insane popularity? I mean, in the past five years it's become the most popular mainstream anime since InuYasha. I'm honestly curious as to why it is that this particular series has become so insanely huge that you can't pass a single elementary school without seeing some eight-year-old in a Sasuke T-Shirt they got from Hot Topic when there's plenty of anime out there just as compelling, maybe even with better character development and steadier plot lines. Why Naruto? Is it the inane ability of Cartoon Network to turn something small and insignificant (*coughBen10cough*) into a completely disproportionate phenomenon?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not downplaying Naruto. I profess I am just as addicted to the weekly manga updates as the next lj addict. I'm just wondering, why this series?
