Theory time!

So I've been speculating on the most recent chapter of the manga. I'd like to hear everyone else's input on the matter too!



So, I was having a discussion with my friend on Hidan and Kakuzu and the most recent chapter. From what I can tell, Hidan's jutsu turns him into a living voodoo doll (hence all the creepy totem and tribal markings XD). So essentially all he'd have to do now is stab himself in the heart and it would probably kill Asuma. I also think that, in order for the jutsu to take effect, Hidan needs to be on that symbol he drew on the ground with his blood. So, at this point, it seems that Shikamaru, Asuma, Izumo, and Kotetsu need to get him off of that symbol, but they can't hurt him without hurting Asuma as well. Similarly, Asuma can't go in and cut off Hidan's head like he was initially planning, because that will kill himself as well. Binding him with Shikamaru's jutsu probably won't work either, because even if Hidan were to let himself be bound in order to stay on the symbol, that means that Kakuzu can step in at any time and it leaves Shikamaru a sitting duck. Also, I don't think Hidan will kill Asuma right away, as he is definitely a masochist. He'll probably torture Asuma until he either dies from the pain, or the jutsu is broken. This seems like it would give Shikamaru some time to formulate a plan.

Then there's Kakuzu. We really haven't seen any of his natural abilities, although from what I can gather, it seems like he has incredible physical strength (I could be mistaken). This got me thinking, that MAYBE Kakuzu is a ninja medic. It would make sense for Akatsuki to have one, and I feel that it would make even more sense to pair up a guy who's jutsu kills by inflicting mortal wounds on himself, with a guy who can easilly heal those wounds and get him back in the fray. So, what do you guys think? Any thoughts?

The medic!Kakuzu does make some sense, and its certainly not something I would of thought of, so kudos to you for thinking of that ^_^

I also agree with your thoughts about Hidan not killing off Asuma right away. Though it does make some sense for Kishimoto to kill off Asuma (given all the shouji talk), I agree with you about Hidan torturing Asuma some. I was hoping that there'd be some catch to all the talk about the shouji moves, something left unsaid. Though it would be rather cool if Asuma died taking out a member of the Akatsuki-defeating one would be something neither of his fellow jounins were able to do. But poor Kurenai, then T_T and Shika.

That does make sense, except for the one fact that everyone else Kakuzu has paired with has died. You'd think if he was a medic he could have saved ONE of them. It also means that unless these pairings were before Akatsuki, they've had previous members...like Sasori.

I thought they died because Kakuzu couldn't stand being with them, so he killed them XD That'd explain why he hasn't killed Hidan yet... he can't ;D

well, along those lines, maybe everyone else he was paired with was just killed in a way where Kakuzu couldn't actually help them (i.e. being blown up or head chopped off or something) Plus, Kakuzu doesn't seem like the most trustworthy guy...I wouldn't trust him to save my life. But I also felt that they died because Kakuzu couldn't stand being with them either...XD

yeah...I'd feel really bad for Shikamaru and Kurenai if Asuma died....but the way I kinda see things happening is that Asuma's going to let himself be the "sacrifical piece" in order to create an opening for Shikamaru to take down one of the Akatsuki. Poor Asuma TT___TT

I think you mean sadist. Masochists like to be on the receiving end of pain, while Sadists (like Hidan) are the givers.

Yeah, I thought it was a combo of getting into bad situations that only Kakuzu suvived, and Kakuzu not playing well with others.

He's actually both, from what it seems XD The reason I chose masochist is because he told Asuma "let's share some exquisite pain together" meaning he's going to love hurting himself as much as he is goiung to love hurting Asuma. He's definitely one part Sadist and one part Masochist XD

Given he's one of the Akatsuki, I doubt he would save people he felt were unworthy of it (heck, I doubt he'd save anybody but himself). He probably figured they were stupid, so good riddence ^_^

Kakuzu as a MAN NURSE medic gives me like, the bestworst most awesome mental image ever. He heals a partner, then smashes his/her head in the next minute cause him/her pissed him off by buying the expensive, brandname cereal instead of the cheaper, slightly crappier cereal in the plastic bags or something.
