Unintentionally Funny Naruto Lines

chuunin_archiveI was just rereading the tragic Chapter 382 and was totally getting into Jiraiya's soliloquy while being all moved and stuff - that is, until I read this line:
"Did he force himself back to life with willpower?"
And started giggling like a schoolgirl.
OMG CUZ IN NARUTOVERSE ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE BY THE SHEER POWER OF NEVER GIVING UP EVAH <3 Though of course that trope is hardly limited to Naruto or the shounen genre. Still, it's hilarious. And touching. As hilarious and touching as Rock Lee still standing and assuming battle stance on a crushed leg with zero chakra while unconscious.
I'm sure there are tons of other unintentionally funny lines throughout the manga/anime/movies (that may or may not have to do with that particular 'willpower = godly power' trope). Anyone else have any?

I assume this was during the Team 8 manga arc? I don't know anything about it except that Shino kicked ass. -sweat-

Date: 2008-09-07 12:26 am (UTC)This was when Team Kakashi and Team 8 teamed up to go find Sasuke in the manga. The first time Naruto and Co met Tobi and Zetsu. Right before they found out about Sasuke and Itachi's fight. (I lack in knowledge of the chapter #)

Date: 2008-09-07 09:52 am (UTC)I just wanted to point out that Lee's 'battle while while unconscious' is more or less a parody of a fighting style, often parodied themselves in Chinese/ Hong Kong movies of many decades ago. It was obviously humorous to audiences who had grown up watching those movies (aka, people across parts of Asia), but not so much for western audiences.
Also Neji's fighting style has references to other Chinese Kung Fu techniques, while Tenten's appearance makes her look Chinese. Just thought you might wanted to know. :D
