so, just got done reading 416..

i have one question to ask; purely because of curiosity;

1) what do YOU think sasuke's true intentions are?

is he really "just a little kid controlled by his emotions" (oh man, i laughed *SO* hard when he said that*) whose going to destroy konoha, or is he just gaining madara's trust to betray akatsuki at a crucial moment?

the only thing i would place money on is that he's going to kill tsunade. her death has a lot of meaning to sasuke;

the last of the senju clan, who opposed the uchiha

the current hokage, the village would be absolutely defenseless

the final sannin. now that all three sannin have passed their jutsu on to team 7 (orochimaru♒sasuke, tsunade♒sakura, jiraiya♒naruto), they don't really have a place in the story.


this manga's starting to actually get interesting again. especially with the raikage beginning to be involved, there could be a three-way war between akatsuki, kumogakure + konoha, WHILE naruto and some homies fight pein and konan (<3333). yay, kishimoto!

Personally, I'm torn. I do like Sasuke as a character, so I would like to think that he is playing Madara and going to turn on him at some crucial moment, but I'm afraid that's a bit too subtle of a storyline, and that Sasuke really is the complete gullible idiot he's acting like. Either way, I'm certain Naruto will set him straight, because Naruto is magic like that.

After discussing this chapter for a while I have come to the conclusion that Kishimoto is making fun of us. The line "a kid ruled by his emotions" and the idea that Sasuke might continue Itachi's work seem to be directly from the discussions among fans (except that he does not mention that Itachi is probably turning in his grave, given that we have no idea what Madara and Zetsu actually did with Itachi's body.)

I think that Kishimoto is taking up these typical fannish ideas, and in the end he will show us that we were all wrong.

Except Sasuke...sort of is ruled by his emotions. It's just he's only ruled by the ones he lets himself feel, so...anger, hate, etc. Like, say, one of his reasons to leave Konoha was that he wasn't strong enough, and he felt that way when he compared himself to Naruto. He felt inferior to him, and he let that lead him instead of, y'know, logic. >_>

Just like he did with Orochimaru. Got close to him and then betrayed him in the end for his own whims. I think Sasuke will surprise the fuck out of everyone, especially with that short flashback to team 7.

I think you're totally right on the Tsunade thing. Damn, I hadn't even thought of that. XD;

I'd like it if Sasuke was just keeping up the act to gain Madara's trust, but on the other hand, I don't think Madara is the kind who'd let his guard down in the first place. I'm thinking that whatever Sasuke decides to do, Naruto is going to change his mind somehow. That's a given.

That's my point. Everyone thinks that he is ruled by his emotion, but he has changed a lot since his flight from Konoha. He has deceived Orochimaru for three years, and he has become very controlled, showing little of what he feels except in some very rare moments, as during his conversation with Madara in the cave. But now I think that he is again controlling himself and acting in front of Madara, knowing quite well that Madara is not really his friend.

If he acts according to his pain and his anger, it is because he chooses to do so. But I don't think that this is what he is planning.

I think Kishimoto wants to make fun of the fans who think that they understand Sasuke.

sasuke is a character that acts recklessly on his own emotions, so contrary to popular belief I don't think he's lying. idk I just saw it as pretty in-character considering his life's goal has always been built on hatred and revenge of some sort.

Plus there was that interview where Kishi said Sakura and Naruto needed to do some growing up. Naruto already lost his mentor, and Sasuke made that comment about taking loved ones away, so I'm pretty much expecting Tsunade to be killed during the Akatsuki/Hebi attack.
