Discussion: Pein's weapon [spoilerish]

Rereading old chapters and looking for panels to icon got me thinking of this:



When Pein fought Jiraiya and stabbed him with that chakra rod, Jiraiya's chakra went haywire. (link) Now, most of the hosts that Akatsuki encountered had control, to some extent, over the tailed beasts within them. It's been suggested over the course of the manga that Naruto has pretty much little or no control over Kyuubi. Since Pein stabbed Naruto in the hands with one of those 'chakra' rods, would Naruto be able to keep the Kyuubi in check as Pein talks? Especially if Pein says something to anger Naruto (much like Orochimaru teased Naruto about Sasuke) enough to cause him to lose control?

Hopefully, the Kyuubi will come out. This fight is beginning to suck. I want Pain to whoop the Kyuubi's ass!!

But, in actuality, if the Kyuubi comes out, Sasuke or Madara will show up. 100% fact.

I'm not sure if Sasuke and Madara would show if the Kyuubi showed. I mean, Kishi kind of made a big deal about Yamato being able to deal with sealing the Kyuubi up and now with during the Pein attack, he's mia. It makes me wonder if Kishi is trying to find a way to make Yamato relevant again.

It's an interesting question. Pein could want the Kyuubi to come out, though it's hard to imagine what tactical purpose that would serve given that Pein has to capture Naruto alive and feed the Kyuubi to his sealing statute. Orochimaru's goals were a bit different.

It's hard to say if the chakra signal transmitted by Pein's rod can even get at the Kyuubi, or would have any effect on it. I guess it's more a question of what it will do to Naruto, though he seems plenty angry already.

Though not enraged just yet, I guess. So, I dunno. Good question. xD

I can only say that his must have some significance, and that probably it will be Kakashi's corpse/body that will give Inoich the information he is looking for, but I have no more ideas than that.

Exactly, which makes me think Pein wouldn't have stabbed Naruto if he thought there was any chance of that happening.

It might be that. Pein would probably reason that the Kyuubi be easier to handle then Naruto.

I forgot about Kakashi being stabbed by Pein. >.> I just wonder if Kishi is going to be consistent. The rod has messed with Jiraiya's and Kakashi's chakra, it should mess with Naruto's pretty soon.

Pein's looking pretty ticked off and impatient in general. I think he's had enough frogs and this loud kid yelling in his face isn't helping.

Pein's motives are hard to figure in terms of his actions. He sounds like he really really wants to just get the Kyuubi and build his supernuke and start taking out entire countries 'create world peace'. But then he loses his temper and bombs the crap out of Konoha and stabs the jinchuuriki with something that will mess with his ability to control the bijuu. So... yeah.

It's hard to say whether he actually has a plan here, or he's just tossing a petulant hissy since Naruto rejected his whole 'we should understand one another' spiel.
