Alright, I haven't been around in forever, but I made a random observation the other day and thought I'd bring it up. Apologies if it's been mentioned before, but Itachi's birthday seemed a good time to post this.

So I was trying to figure out how old (roughly) Itachi is in the flashbacks wherein his hair is short and Sasuke has Mr. Roary etc. etc. Mikoto harasses her son about homework, but Itachi graduated from the Academy at age seven. Which would make Sasuke two. Am I missing something? Help me regain my sanity, Chuunin.

Maybe I'm wrong, but this may be nothing more than a case of writers can't do math (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WritersCannotDoMath)... possibly coupled with the fact that kids in Naruto seem to grow up VERY fast what with being trained to be full-on ninjas by the time they're 15.

Theory #2, because he graduated early he had skip a few subjects (math, kanji, history, etc), and was therefore getting some kind of extra schooling to make up for it.
