I recently bought him the latest copy of SJ, and he was reading it this morning. Immediately, he pointed out a rather odd discrepancy.

Let me zoom in here a bit.

What am I blathering on about, you ask?

KANKURO IS WEARING A CLOUD HEADBAND.

HOW DID WE NOT NOTICE THIS. and how did the nine-year-old find it first... -_-

Seriously, I actually went back to the original chapter reviews for this, and everyone was so distracted by OMG SASORI!! that we didn't notice this... little mistake... DAMMIT, KISHI, THEY'RE CALLED EDITORS. >__>;

Edited to clarify: These were also taken from chapter 464.

I initially thought as well that it could have been a rather sloppy hourglass, but then I went through the rest of the chapter... this is the only instance where Kankuro's emblem does not look like a proper Suna symbol. Kishi is either trolling us, or is suffering from severe editing fail.

LOL. Kishimoto has made this mistake before in the Pain Invasion arc when he accidentally gave Pain a Leaf headband. (I can't remember exactly where it was, though.)

this does happen a couple times, no big deal; and it is not that easy to notice in the first place. it's not like when most people are reading are zooming at every single detail of the page.

Incredible! +__+
I'd never have been able to notice it, LOL. What an eyesight!

I've always felt that Pain was using that as a half-ass means of going incognito, buuuttt, I could be giving the man far too much credit.

It could just be that he likes fucking with us. Wants to see who really notices this stuff...

lol! Well, I know how it feels to be so out of it that you mess up/leave out a vital characteristic from your drawings... xD

Actually, I think Kishimoto actually DID draw a Suna headband, but he did it in a really messy, careless way (i.e., he didn't do a good job.

The Suna headband looks like this:

The Cloud headband looks like this:

Kankurou's headband clearly has the top section, and the bottom section looks like a really fat, crappy hourglass with a tiny, tiny middle section--but it DOES look like it was intended to look like an hourglass, because it's connected.

::shrug:: I'm sure people with disagree with me, which is fine. But I figure I'll put my opinion out there as food for thought.

A bit like Oda? He always draws this bear-guy (pedo bear? *grin*) in his pictures or manga chapters and only a couple of people notice

I second this interpretation. It does look more like a lazily drawn Suna headband than a Cloud one.

Eh, it happens. He also forgot Itachi's face lines a couple times, when Itachi was emoing under the rain.

I think it might also not be him who inks all the lines, I know often backgrounds and black portions are filled in by assistants, and sometimes I guess he might ask the good ones who can copy his style to ink main characters in. I know some other mangakas who do that. Then again sometimes when you're inking/drawing stuff quickly because you've got a deadline coming in, it's easy to forget the little stuff, you don't have time to stare for a half-hour trying to make it all perfectly perfect. I could also see him doing the bodies first and then doing a second pass for little details like tattoos and scars and headbands, and if he's doing them all in a row he might mix up a few.

Long story short, in a manga that's published every week, this kind of small drawing weirdness is fairly common. Sorry I'm babbling, I haven't slept in way too long. XD;

I remember there were naked people in the background corner of a panel once! Its when Team 7 is getting their first 'real' mission, and there were tiny naked people just chillin' in the corner of the mission center...
