So I've got an offer for all you writers out there. I've decided to take up reading fanfiction again simultaneously while I write. I'm also trying to gradually build up the quality and length of my reviews (I don't like giving out one-liners too much) so this is your chance for some shameless self advertising.
I want YOU. Yes, YOU, to speak up. Speak up and sell me your soul link me to whatever little gem you've written that you think isn't getting enough attention or you feel the need to improve on, and I'll review it.

Each chapter is semi-stand alone, linked only by timeline and hopefully character development, not by plot, so you can start wherever you want (and count a review of one chapter as a complete review of a story).
Please rip me a new one. I desperately need it.

Though if this becomes full blown, we could always make a community for specific review requests...

Date: 2011-01-26 12:56 am (UTC)Well, I've been meaning to get more active in helping the Naruto communities' other writers for a while. So no problem, this a good opportunity to do editing for fun.
For the system, I think we could see how many requests come in per day, and split them equally if it's just us doing this. OR, if you prefer to review more of the requests - since you came up with the project and I don't want to completely take over your idea - I can be your assistant and do whatever you want me to do =)
This could be a good community to start :D I'm sure a lot of new [and old] Naruto writers would like having a helpful CC-review community to go to.

Though the problem with this is that some people might end up with two reviews if we decided to do whatever we wanted. Hm. But at the end of the day, all that matters is everyone's stuff gets a chance... It really all depends on what you want to do? So splitting sounds good, though maybe we should share loads when it comes to the word count. For example, maybe you get around a 12K oneshot while I do two 6K ones? Gah, I'm bad at this organising business.
Anyway, you're free to go around this post telling people that you'll review, etc. I'm not stopping ya! ♥
You know, the more I think about it the more I think that this is a really, really good idea. I know there are plenty of people out there looking for critique and such, and there's a system that could work. We just need people who are willing to do something like this... The only problem is (I don't know about you) I don't have any experience with being a mod for anything like that.
If you'd be willing, I think we should maybe actually take this plan (start a community) into fruition after we finish this round of fics. :) And if you want to participate in that, maybe we should work a plan if this actually comes into existence? I actually doubt that many more people will drop by and comment anytime soon, so maybe I should just finish this round as originally planned? IDK, I am having a little trouble getting through these all.
I don't even know what I'm doing anymore...

Date: 2011-01-26 02:42 am (UTC)A community could be good for this. I have been interested in moderating before, and I have seen plenty of examples from my friends and their communities they mod. So I could maybe help you there with making rules and tags and things a comm would require. We could maybe get a good layout, but I don't know where to find Naruto layouts, lol. We'd have to work on just that one area which would be the hardest.
I think we'd definitely have to take some steps to get the comm working well. I think there should be an ad for more editors/reviewers, people who are seriously into writing fics. We could get a short application for them to fill out to see if they'd be good reviewers, and sort of co-maintainers of the comm with us as the main mods. I'm just throwing this out here, because I think we'd definitely need a few more reviewers available if it's going to be a whole comm! What do you think? Also, do you have any close LJ friends who could be interested in helping you out?
