May. 31st, 2005 12:55 amOkay, everybody, think of as many bad school-related puns as you can and apply them to Naruto! Cartoon Network might hire you. That ad cracked me up hard - "Don't be tardy to THIS school or you'll end up in PERMANENT detention!" . Muted, though, it was pretty good. :P
Anyways, now that I've seen it, though, I think what I said here about the Hokage thing was right. And I don't think the announcer guy's pronunciation is necessarily how they'll pronounce it in the show(I doubt he has a part in the dubbing). Viz/Shoppro got eee-nu-ya-sha and most of the pronunciations on that series correct, so I think they'll do okay with this one. Sasuke's is the one I'm most worried about anyways(it'll suck if they say "sah-soo-kay"). ^^;
Anyways, the main thing I wanted to ask was this: is the show going to be on every weekday or just once a week? I remember Toonami was cut to just Saturday nights and replaced with that thing with the girl and the aliens watching Teen Titans and TMNT(Mizuki?), but...that was a long time ago.

Date: 2005-05-31 05:55 am (UTC)About your question, my guess it's gonna be a once a week deal because like you said, they changed toonami to once every saturday with the everyday Miguzi (the name of the block) action block.

Date: 2005-05-31 06:42 am (UTC)About the only on-air tv shows I've watched regularly over the past year are Home Movies, Venture Bros., Arrested Development, and The Daily Show...and only one of them has even been airing lately. So I'm really not up-to-speed. :P

Date: 2005-05-31 02:34 pm (UTC)I agree that the announcer always makes things seem much worse than the actual show will. He has to be as random as possible to generate the most interest. I mean, if I'd never seen Naruto and I saw that commercial, I'd be *quite* interested. Also, since it's geared toward the young males, they have to focus on the school and the fighting in the commercial. Not that likely that it'll carry over to actual dubbing. I do share the worry about pronouncing Sasuke though, but I think the companies may be learning about the u.
