they used them on there first misson. besides they have Tv's vid cams and tape players. in the movie there are cars. Maybe they are just wise in keeping moter vihicals at a minimum due to the massive roads that would need to be built and the fuil and its effects on the enviroment. besides they dont traval that far because of the constant waring between countries

Naruto is very, very inconsistent in it's technology level. They have computers, video cameras, EKG machines, tv, wireless communication... but no cars nor guns. I suppose we just have to accept that not all of the advances we made in our world were made in Naruto-verse, while many were. *shrugs*

It's not exactly rare for "like Earth but not quite"-universe stories to do that...Escaflowne, Suikoden, most of the Final Fantasies, Zelda, Rayearth, various Gundam series, Miyazaki stuff, lots of them mix-and-match what they like from different eras and cultures.

The way I look at it, Naruto has wireless communication and no cars. It also has chakra, giant chain-smoking frogs and people with mouths in their hands. It's a different world with different rules. ^^;

Oh, I'm not complaining. I'm just saying, yeah, I noticed that. It is common in anime and video games. Just like it's common to have a perfectly modern setting, and a hero armed with a sword for no discernible purpose. It doesn't bug me. It's just something you have to accept.

It's not the real world.

As such things go, Naruto isn't nearly as bad as--like you said--some of the Gundam series or Final Fantasy or or or. I mean, who needs cars when you have airships. And chocobos. XD

I think there is some kind of car/other transaportation things, but we wouldn't get to see any of them anyway since all the main charas need to be stealthy and sneaky, to come rolling with a range rover KINDA BLOWS YOUR COVER ♥

When I first saw the show, I thought it was supposed to be old, too. But everything is so modern that it doesn't make sense. There are TVs and movies and ORANGE JUMPSUITS and almost everything but cars.

Kishimoto explained why there weren't any weapons. It was because it would ruin the whole ninja weapons thing, like shuriken and kunai, and the bunch. And it would too. XD Just imagine what the Akatsuki could do with a bunch of nukes... o____0.............
