Questions about the bijuu.

I don't think Kishimoto-sensei ever said this specifically so I wanted to know:
Are there are special requirements to what constitutes a bijuu other then it has a tail? For example, does it need to be evil, like Kyuubi and Ichibi, the only two we have seen so far? Or can it be like any animal summon except with enormous power, say Gamabunta, and it was just sealed into a person?

the ibi's or however u call them, each have a certian number of tails, from 1 to 9, so i would say it cant be gamabunta cuz he doesnt have a tail, but i would guess that they dont have to be evil

Ok, then what about Orochimaru's summon, that snake? Or Kakashi's summons of his many dogs? They may lack power (the dogs at least) but they have tails; does that qualify them?

no, the bijuu have ENORMOUS power and are destructive demons that run free all the summons do not run free causing havoc unless summoned.

Yes I realize that but doesn't Orochimaru's summon have said power? Afterall, wasn't he demanding sacrifices from Orochimaru as payment for working for him; doesn't that imply he has a certain level of power? And that's why I'm asking, does the jinchuuriki really need to be a "demon" or can it be some normal summon that just has lots and lots of power?

the summons rnt as strong as the bijuu's, also the snake has one tail, but the stop for ichibi is already taken, so it cant be one

I don't know; Gamabunta held his own against Gaara pretty well and I'm sure there are other massively large and powerful summons out there like him. But that's not the point. I was asking if, is it possible for one of the bijuu to be like an animal summon, good and not all intent on destroying people like Kyuubi and Ichibi? I mean, could a bijuu be like Kakashi's dogs (only more powerful times infinity) or does it have to be some mystical creature of Japanese lore?

Your talking about a Bujuu(tailed beast) which is the actual monster a jinchuuriki is a person who has a Bujuu sealed inside them.

Thats why they are called jinchuuriki(human sacrifice). Don't worry it is easy to be confused.

Jinchuuriki are people with Bijuu sealed inside them.
Bijuu, which are "tailed beasts", are special kinda of demons composed of chakra. They've nothing to do with animal summons.

So, are they restricted to demons only or can they be animals like (not the real things themselves) the animal summons of Kakashi, etc.? I just wanted to know the bijuu part and was wondering if it had to be that way. I was confused earlier but the previous commenter clarified that point for me.

The Bijuu ARE animal like, as far as we know. Shukaku (Ichibi) is a Raccoon and Kyuubi is a Fox. And, if the rumors are true and Kisame has a bijuu, that one could be a shark.

Well, I've always classified the summons of Kakashi, Tsunade and others as somewhat different from the bijuu in that they are natural animals where as the bijuu were always some sort of cursed this or evil that taken from Japanese mythology. So I was wondering if there would be a more normal bijuu for once.

Not that i am going with the thery that the Bijuu could be summon monsters but who knows. maybe there is one or two that actually lets themselves be summond. they are sead to be uncontrollabe monsters that every county has and trys to controle but who knows. they may agree to fight together with ninjas

I think the Bijuu are their own species of 9 insanely powerful demonic creatures that storm the countryside like a natural disaster. They seem to have unique characteristics and lots and lots of Chakra and are capable of synchronizing with human beings.
