See my intense, lengthy, and pointless debate! (http://www.livejournal.com/community/chuunin/1261766.html?thread=17806278#t17806278)
Come on, remember a couple months ago when the Gai Team fight began? And everybody was, like, "OMG, Neji pushed him! He pushed Kisame, like, two feet! He's so awesome!" And then Naruto scored a hit on a distracted fake Itachi, and everybody's like, "OMG, Naruto did a bigger version of an attack he's done before and knocked out a fake clone with less than one third of Itachi's actual strength! He's so awesome!"
Aww, I didn't mean it like that. I just think it's funny that I was defending a character like that when she's probably not even in my top 20 people in the series. :P
Hmm...I'm gonna have to rank them now to find out. Lee, Gai, Jiraiya, Tsunade, Orochimaru, Kabuto, Temari, Chouji, Shikamaru, Haku, Itachi, Sasori, Gaara, Hinata, Anko, Sandaime, Kurenai, Neji, Kakashi, Shizune, Obito, Asuma, and then Sakura. So yeah, not in the top 20.
Anyways(damn ADD), I just meant that my geeky obsessiveness is what's pointless. I love discussing stuff with you because you appreciate Otonin and Akatsuki(and I think Jiraiya and Gai too?) sex appeal, and because I can never figure out whether you're male or female. :D
Heh. *^^* I am female; Thomas is my vampire LARP character; he's kind of my muse.
Akatsuki have truck loads of sex appeal! Never has an Evil Organisation been so full of sexiness. ^^ Itachi is pretty and dangerous and probably mad, Kisame is so suave....Deidara is pretty and fabulously quirky and theatrical, Sasori has (I think) intelligence, immense charisma and a really snarky sense of humour, characteristics he shares with Sir Leader, and Zetsu is exotic with sad puppy dog eyes. And then there's the one that got away, the ever amazing Orochimaru sama...mmmmm Akatsuki! XD
All the Otonin are sexy too, except Jiroubou who's a little bit modest to be described as sexy, I think. ^^ But he's sweet.
I saw your name and thought, "Yes, finally another male Naruto fan who'd let Orochimaru-sama lick him all over!" :P
Akatsuki have awesome hats and coats too. ^^
And I'm mostly into the main three Otonin. All the Sannin are total sex, Kabuto is total sex plus glasses(even when he's fake), and Kimimaro has such a wonderfully weird Kekkai Genkai and funky lightning bolt hair. :P They're my main squeezes(along with Anko, who I consider related). Tayuya is hot, though, Kin is pretty, Dosu has a very unique fashion sense, and Ukon/Sakon would have to be interesting in bed(if anybody's written porn with them, I wanna read it).
Akatsuki have very flamboyant fashion! ^^ Because they can!
I have seen SaUkon fanart (SaUkoncest....since they can merge to become one body, how confusing could this become! Who's on top? Only they know fer sure - but from what I read of their personalities, my money would be on Ukon!)
My main Sound obsession (Orochi and Kabuto aside ^^) is Kidoumaru actaully. I am his loving fangrl. ^^ But I obsess over Orochimaru a lot. :P
I remember when Kankurou showed up, they merged in a different way than usual and the one with the spike said something like, "Ugh, I'm not used to being on top." XD
And Kidou - hmmm. I can't find it in my heart to respect a shinobi who gets poked to death. Come on, even six year old Sasuke survived Itachi's forehead poke of doom! :P
Ah, funnily enough, that was Ukon on top. XD Now Ukon isn't usually on top, because he is very very lazy, at least as lazy as Shikamaru, and his favourite thing is sleeping. However, he is something of a backseat driver when he's wakeful and often takes control in a battle. He regards Sakon as his foolish little brother.....sounds like someone else we know...:P So yeah...^^
Kidoumaru is utterly gorgeous. He has six arms. Come on, how can you resist...:P The possibilities! The multitasking!
Heh, I love her cute sadism. :P And I like anything related to Evangeline-san, of course. Even her episodes and image songs from the anime(we miss you Kotarou) were good.
Hey, ya gotta love a doll who can carry a sword around that's as big as her. She owns me xD I really liked Evangeline's image songs- both versions were awesome (unlike a lot of the other singles. *shudder*). I've only been keeping up with the manga lately- oh chapter 99, when will you come out?!
Kotarou is my hero. I'm not sure if I like him or Negi more xD I'm such a sap.
Yeah, she's the Cloud Strife(or Zabuza) of puppets. :P
And I stopped watching the anime when Nodoka confessed and I realized they weren't going to go to Kyoto or really do...anything. They should have made it something like Tenjo Tenge, a mix of action/comedy/fanservice instead of a bad "Days in the life of a child magician" fluff show. With a good budget, some of the fights could've been so badass in animated form - of course the three badass little boys(I like the little white-haired dude too - just can't remember his name), but also Eva/Chacha, Setsuna, Mana, Asuna, Ku Fei and Kaede, Monkey-nee-san, Wilhelm, all the other amusing demons - the people behind the anime could've done so much more.
Maze of the Dark and Welcome to the Library were my favorite singles. And I'm not gonna lie, I really enjoyed the songs by the Cheerleaders and Narutaki twins. They were just so in-character despite(or because of?) the ultra-poppiness. The worst I thought was Chisame's. It was all pop-idol with none of that snarky "I hate you all" attitude that makes her so fun.
We are threadjacking SO hard. My viewing habits on the anime was more along the lines of 'holy crap, technicolor hair *stops watching*', so you have far more patience than I. Kept following it on various anime blogs (just to keep up with stuff). The anime could have been so much cooler if they had only toned down the color pallet and given the girls the hair color that they had on the singles.
The recent manga fights would have ROCKED had they been animated. The tournament, hell, the festival would have been awesome. This may be the shounen fangirl in me talking, but the fights seemed to be the best part of the manga. Heck, a little kid like Negi just kicking ass? Too good to be true! Though I just wish they would have given some of the minor characters more time, too. I was so sad about what they did to Satsuki =/ she looked like, a stick... or something. I always loved Kotarou though.
My favorite singles would have to be Maze of the Dark (of course. You'd have to be nuts not to like that one), the twins' song (dunno the name. Damn not having romanized track listings!), and the song with Setsuna, Kaede, Mana, and Ku Fei. That one was awesome. I was really disappointed with Chisame's as well. I mean, the song sounded like something Chi-u would post on her website =p As for Eva's other image song... wait, she had another image song? xD I know she had the Maze of the Dark remix, but that was it... or not. My listings might be wrong. I really need to just get off my ass and buy some of those CDs =p
And it needs to be said: "You are only a puppet." I'm sorry, I had to.
Hah, Negima needs more discussion anyways. :P And yeah, the colors and the whole opening sequence really bugged me when I saw the first episode, and just the fact that it started out with Asuna(in a fish suit-wtf?) without showing Negi or the graduation or his mission or anything seemed really weird. But I liked the ending sequence and it had a great cast, so I was still hopeful. The Eva eps(7-9, I think) were actually pretty good, she and Chachamaru and Kaede in the forest and Nagi(played by Kiryuu Touga *swoon*) were all cool and even the animation was better. After that, though, it got really bad.
One big problem was that they tried to turn almost every single chapter into an episode. So it took about 15 or 16 episodes to even through the first three volumes. The Dodgeball game, the bath incident, the twins taking Negi to the tree, Negi as a bachelor prince, etc. might've been cute, but they don't need a 30-minute episode each. Cut all of those out and condense the Chisame and visit to Ayaka's into one episode because they were important. ^^;
Then after Episode 16 when they got to volume 4, they stopped using the manga at all. Nodoka confessed - during a trip to an amusement park where nothing else happened. The contest with the fake Negi's happened without the tie-in to the plot(Nodoka getting the pactio so she could help in the upcoming fight). The Kyoto arc was like the Chuunin exam - one big plot with lots of facets that let all the characters shine and introduced lots of new ones, and it was abandoned. Looking at the cast list on ANN, I don't think Kotarou or his teammates or Chacha-zero ever showed up. Konoka and Setsuna's storylines(and wings) were abandoned, the other pactios, the stuff with Nagi, the action, and the basic plot of the series were pretty much thrown out the window.
So yeah, it sucked. >_>; Even more than the anime version of Love Hina(at least that one kept the "service" so you had something to look at :P). Which is a shame because the two previews were great. And yes, Satsuki should've been chubbier and cuter.
Oh, and you said: I really liked Evangeline's image songs- both versions were awesome so I thought you meant there were two different songs. Could you put the remix on yousendit or something?
Yeah- no offense to the Negi LJ comms, but holy crap, there is a total lack of discussion. Mostly they're all talking about how 'great' they thought the anime was. That confused the hell out of me.
My big issue with the anime is that Xebec seriously needed to sort out priorities. The dodgeball epsiode was all the way at episode 10, when it took place at the very end of the first volume... I mean, if they were going to wait that long for it, they may as well have kept it out. In all seriousness, I guess it wasn't that big of a deal, since the episode could have honestly fit in anywhere (well, close to) in the series. If they had stuck strictly to the one chapter = one episode (they didn't exactly, but came pretty damn close to it), Library Island would have lasted an eternity (can you tell it was one of my least favorite arcs? =p) Though to add specifics, Negi's tour with the twins did NOT need to last that long- it was just an uneventful trip around campus, which seriously wasted time when it came to the anime. I'm sure it would have fit well in just a 5 minute montage, to tell the truth. This is just throwing out ideas, but maybe if they had split those episodes into 15 minute segments (with each part resolving before the eyecatch), everything would have flown a lot easier. That way, Xebec wouldn't be cranking out all these anime-original storylines in order to get a slightly satisfying ending. I just glanced over some old blog entries on Negi, and nope, Kotarou didn't even show up! >=O The visit to Kyoto was so brief *tear* (Chacha-zero did show up briefly via flashback when Eva took on Nagi) Aaanyway, to make up for that, here's some Evangeline service. Chacha-zero's got the crazy hair going on!
I adored those previews though. Why on earth would they change the animation style to what it ended up being (granted, it has gotten really good from what I've seen in recent screens). The DVD does have a little service (we get panty shots back! Yay!) There's a couple sites with side-by-side comparisons here (http://www.prototype-blue.com/) and here (http://www.ne.jp/asahi/kinu/tategamiya/NegiDVD.htm). Some of the changes are crazy, man, crazy.
Sorry about being misleading on the whole song thing. Typos can do that xD Right now I've got the remix uploading. Bah. Just download it here (http://hardcore.redclouds.com/mibmibx/music/10%a4%eb/3.mp3), I'm sure no one would mind =p
Takehito Koyasu also did a rockin' job as Freyr in Matantei Loki. *luffs on him*
Yeah, I know Chacha-zero was in the flashback, but where is she now? She didn't die, did she? *paranoid*
The coloring is improved on those dvd shots, but damn, I still hate how pink Makie and the twins are. I like pink on some characters(Sakura, Utena, one of my favorite characters from the series Bleach), but Akamatsu mostly sticks to real hair-colors(except for blue/purple on the two shy crush girls). All these neon greens and pinks and blues(Se-chan needs pitch-black hair!) just don't fit.
Thanks for the link! All I had before were the main versions of the songs(2 on all those lists). The MotD remix is super-pretty. :)
Oh and the prankster's song is called "It's My Life," which sounds Bon Jovi-ish. :P
I need to watch Loki one day. I like Norse mythology and cute anime boys, so I'd probably enjoy it. ^^
Heh, just handing out the service xD Chacha-zero didn't make any appearances other than that, huh... Hey, it looks like we have yet another continuity error on our hands!
I think with the DVD shots, they're trying to incorporate the color changes in a more subtle manner. At least in the later episodes, their hair is... uh... less pink? Well, it's still bad, but not nearly as bad as before. It does take a certain charm to work the pink hair, and the effect is lost for obnoxious...uh, ness on a lot of characters. Like the twins' (and Makie's) hair is more of a melon color than that awful neon. I was most ticked off with Chisame's color change. How the heck did they go from brown to green? Some people, I tell ya. I heard somewhere that the color changes may have been because the animators were having trouble distinguishing the girls from each other (uh, how?), so they needed a more visual cue. Bah, lame.
So I'm assuming you went and downloaded the rest too, huh? I especially like the "It's My Life" (thank you for the cue. Seriously, I should have gotten that just by listening to the song- the repeating of the lyrics is.. a little obvious, right?) remix. It's all tango-ish.
And Loki is love. Personally, I guess I liked it a lot more than most people did. All my friends who attempted watching it (after my insistance xD) thought it was too slow. It might be because I read a few chapters of the manga beforehand. Arr. The ending of the series is especially good, though. Doesn't make much sense because a 'certain character' appears without even being shown before. Like, an opening for a second season or something. Yeeeah, that didn't happen =p
