I made an AMV using episodes 140-141.

The song featured is Hoobastank - Crawling In The Dark

i didn't like it.. so i'll give you tips.

an AMV should never be boring, don't use filler parts. i don't mean storyline. there were a lot of times when the music clearly had intensity and the clips were like sakura staring blankly.

pick your music to match your footage. in 140-141 there isn't enough decent footage to make an AMV to that song.

the song's gotta relate too what you're showing. when i read that it was Crawling in the Dark, my assumption was it would be an AMV about Sasuke or something. something angsty. when the guitar gets intense, your action footage should get intense. it should be on the same beats as the music too. for example.. when kabuto throws out those kunai and naruto comes out, Kabuto should have started when the music broke, and as soon as the last kunai was thrown it should have changed to another fast action scene. not to naruto dodging, then coming out and saying something.

these are my observations, a lot of people may disagree or argue i'm an asshole but meh. it's LJ. bring on the drama if they're going to.

this is a good thing. my point was mainly that you need to take time with AMVs.remember when 131 came out and there were like hundreds of NARUTO VS SASUKE AMVs? none of them were actually that great, the reason was they focused on new footage and neglected older stuff. that's where AMV making requires skill. because you need to make it all relevent and not have any "boring parts"

also i forgot to mention the issue with subs, always use RAW eps with AMVs, It makes it look a lot more polished.

Saiyaman: http://bt.saiyaman.info/ usually has Raw torrents up for the last 4 or so episodes, so some can be got there. I share the same problem as you -most of my Naruto eps are subbed.

I don't know what program you use to make your videos, but the way I've got round it is by cropping the footage and then resizing it to fit the window - I do this in Adobe Premiere Pro for which I've downloaded the free trial from their website (god help me when it runs out, as it costs like $700...)But this allows for editing like that. I'm guessing you're using something like WIndows MovieMaker, which makes editing a lot harder.

Other programs worth taking a look at are free 30 day trials of Ulead Movie Maker/editor, and Video Eidit Magic, for which the free trial works but puts a logo on your video. I've just got used to Premiere, so am staying with that.

Liked:
The intro - the guitar intro plus Sakura shaking/the candle was really nice at setting the scene
(I think) the theme - I've been crawling in the dark looking for the answer, Is there something more than what i've been handed? Help me carry on" fits with the premise of the episode ie. Sakura feeling lost and weak, and trying to find a way she can be useful.

Comments:
I agree with the concrit by digital z3ro, I liked the intro, but matching the clips/cutting to the music would be great. So that with each change of verse/line/scene, the transision happens on the beat or a big action move, which can involve slowing down/speeding up clips, more editing etc.

But yeah, good stuff, and keep trying, because just because people don't think it's perfect shouldn't put you off because then no one would ever make another video ever. And I really enjoyed it!
