I guess this is sort of related to naruto, because there are a lot of Naruto AMVs on the site...
Has anybody else heard that animemusicvideos.org is getting sued?
Nobody was making any sort of profit off of them, and it was a fan tribute to their music and anime.
The world is full of greedy bastards, I guess.
But does anyone know anybody know WHY this is happening? Or even IF the rumours are true?

AMV.org has been ignored for years because the whole damn thing is just free advertising. I've gotten into countless bands because one of their songs was used in an AMV, and same with the anime used in them.

That goes the same for me. I've gone out to buy cds just on the basis that I heard a really good song in an AMV, and also bought animes, not bootlegs, because of the AMVs I've seen. Hopefully it's only a rumor.

Yeah, I got into Vienna Teng's music through AMV's, and have bought two of her cds since.

I was just at an AMV workshop at AX the other day, so unless animemusicvideos.org is only just getting sued within the last two days, I'm sure it would have been brought up. We had a whole conversation on the legalities of making and distributing AMVs. Animemusicvideos.org was brought up many times through-out the discussion and the workshop in general. If anyone was getting sued, I'm pretty certain some of the big AMV people in the room would have known and would have brought it up. No mention of it was made. In fact, everything I heard points to the exact opposite conclusion: animemusicvideos.org is doing just fine.

But I can't prove a negative. (Meaning, I can't prove they're not being sued.) Until I see anything official on the subject, I'll assume it's just a rumor.
