They're just worried that the horrible dub will kill the reputation. Naruto will be known as "that ninja show" (a kiddie show, like Pokemon and Yugioh).

Anime almost always gets dumbed down and censored when it's dubbed, it's nothing new. Whining about the VAs isn't going to change anything.

Naruto isn't that mature of a show in Japan. I'm sure kids enjoy it just as much as adults. Someone said that stuff is dumbed down here and that's true, but it's usually only dumbed down on certain channels or by certain producers. Without 4Kids backing it, Yugioh would seem a heck of a lot darker and slightly more complicated. It's not Pokemon. Just as Digimon is not Pokemon. Just because the shows are shown in the same slot and thought to have the same audience doesn't mean they should be slopped together as "kiddie" shows. You're doing to them exactly what you fear will be done to Naruto.

I've seen most of the dubs on Toonami and unless they feature semi-mindless plots, they are decent. The worst things Toonami cut out of semi-violent productions like Gundam Seed lately were excessive blood, prolonged nudity, and weapon alteration. Not sure about the reasoning for the latter since the altered weapons still killed people. Maybe they were supposed to seem less threatening. You will also have to get used to the fact that Naruto was made to be immensely popular, and immmensely popular things tend to generate an iffy reputation just because of their basic nature. People will probably compare it to DBZ. Heck, sub Naruto fans have been doing it for years. If you fear for its reputation that much, you could always talk to people you believe are seeing it the wrong way.

I seriously think you guys only watch the 4Kids dubs before making all your assumptions about bad dubbing and cutting. Why don't you try watching some of the Toonami stuff for once before you open your mouth? Note, this last part isn't directed at the above poster, just a general complaint.

I agree; far too much bitching, not enough lurve. People complain about so much stuff sometimes I am left wondering what they actually do like about Naruto!

I am wary of the dub, but this is more to do with it being different than it being necessarily rubbish. It's such a big show with a huge fanbase already and I am sure they are taking some care with it. But when you have got used to something, listened to the same voices for 142 episodes, then hearing new voices in the roles is probably going to be too wierd.

And not even speaking Japanese; what will happen to dattebayo, for example? Is Naruto still going to say this? And all those little exclamations characters make that are essentially Japanese...their speach will be wholly changed, not just the voices and the language but all the little inflections...oddness!

But I expect this will matter little to us here in the UK; with GRevolutions as the mighty exception of the UK getting lucky for once, I don't expect we'll see the dub for a loooong time, and I expect only to watch it for curiosity's sake. As I watch Naruto every week, I am likely to stick with the original since that's where I am in the story, so...:)))

for me the voice makes up hte character and not some shity high paid voice actor who does many animes cuz they have no voice talent. American just sound loud constantly like vic with ed cryin. pathetic

Aah. I like hearing dub voices to see how much they differ from the original Japanese...and what they sound like in English period. I love voice actors~ Wee~ Though...there are some better than others...and stuff, but I WAIT to hear the voices before I bitch and complain about them...if I even do. XD

I've heard japanese sound clips of Naruto's voice and all that. All peppy and what(I can even imagine his voice in the manga too!) and seeing how ex-power ranger actor Johnny Young Bosch has scored that role in the dub get's my mind into boggling.

He had some serious roles as Kiba from Wolf's Rain and Sakaki from Witch Hunter Robin and what not, and the only voice I can get that he had to act to pepped and hyper was as Vash in Trigun--WHICH I LOVED! <3--that show actually got me into loving Bosch! ^___^

Now taking Vash's hyper personality and compare it to the upcoming one that Bosch will voice as Naruto's....

I wonder what people will expect??
