Quick preface: I know next door to nothing about Tarot. But a couple of things smacked me over the head on the way into work this morning, and I wondered if anybody who DID know more about Tarot wanted to contribute to the virtual deck?

ED: Did some tweaking, there's more of 'em now -- opinions?

Naruto = The Fool
Naruto is pretty much the epitome of the Fool, as far as I can tell. The one who knows nothing and starts everything, the one who takes the journey, the one who changes everybody's lives, who lives life according to his own plans and doesn't care how much or how little it jives with how things are supposed to be done...

Kakashi = The Magician
Transformation, manipulation of the world by perceiving something and willing it to be different, the Fool's mentor/teacher, but most of the power comes from an external source that he depends on; red and white color scheme even.

Sakura = The High Priestess
All about duality and the "Inner Voice" and the balance between positive and negative, the "good side" you present to the rest of the world and the "bad side" of you that you keep hidden - Inner Sakura anybody? To borrow a phrase, heck yeah...

Tsunade = The Empress
Mother-figure, sexuality, physical desire, healing, etc etc etc... unfortunately Jiraiya and Orochimaru don't map to the Emperor and the Hierophant nearly as well, because the Emperor is all about self-control, and, er, yeah right. Anyway, on with the nominees:

Sandaime = The Emperor
Father-figure, represents law and order, armor under the robes, government and bureaucracy and logic with a parental touch.

The Council = The Hierophant
Secret/forbidden knowledge they drabble out to others, extreme emphasis on "the way things are traditionally done," gotta lay down the rules the way they were passed along from on high, the good of the many outweighs the good of the one...

Lee = The Chariot
Wildly emotional and using emotion as the source of power for forward motion, driving your life with emotions that you use to motivate yourself to change your life

Gai = Strength
Taming a vivid temper that's sometimes symbolized by a lion, the epitome of courage and patience and self-control, but NOT specifically gentleness or forgiveness...

Itachi = The Hermit
Discarding the world and walking straight into darkness in order to seek his own enlightenment within himself, teaching others without giving instructions, just by leaving a trail for someone to follow (or stalk, in Sasuke's case)

Neji: The Wheel
You're tied to the wheel of fate and there's nothing you can do about it. Yeah, that's (pre-exams) Neji in a nutshell...

Iruka: The Hanged Man
Compassion in suffering, strength from vulnerability, a new way of looking at things that transforms what is seen...

Orochimaru: The Devil
Aside from the obvious, it's specifically about temptation, about destroying someone from the inside out rather than the outside in, and controlling others through their own desires and needs rather than through brute force.

Some more:
Konohamaru = Page of Wands
Energetic, getting into everything, climbing trees and falling out, loves being the center of attention

Kiba = Knight of Wands
The archetypical party animal, headstrong, fiercely loyal to friends, can be a bully to those who aren't, not always sensitive to other people's feelings

Ino = Queen of Wands
Loves attention, aims for the center of the spotlight like it's water in a desert, sees deeply into other people's minds without giving away what's in her own (shintenshin no jutsu anyone?), recognized to be beautiful but gets lost in her own fantasy world too often (Sasuke-fangirlitis), good at art and creating (and flower arranging?)

Yondaime = King of Wands
Loving family man with extraordinarily high ideals that can cost him, the commoners love him, a visionary leader, the epitome of "lead by example" even to the point where he's in way over his head

Shikamaru = Knight of Pentacles
Too smart for his own good, methodical and brilliant, stands back and assesses the situation and then plants a precise strike

Shizune = Queen of Pentacles
Industrious, hard-working, instincts of an accountant, tasteful, puts psychological pressure to behave on the people they've taken responsibility for (although she doesn't have much luck with Tsunade)

Hiashi = King of Pentacles
The ultimate businessman, calculating, his word is law (both in the sense of domineering and in the sense of he'll never, ever break his given word); traditionalist to the core, never make him angry

Sasuke = Knight of Cups
Emo-goth-prince, sensitive, moody, deep, appears aloof and quiet and calm on the surface but wildly tormented inside by the single driving force he's flung his life's passion into. (It's been noted that this card is the most feminine of the knights, which also suits our purple-lipstick-wearing boy to a T in my opinion...)

Hinata = Queen of Cups
The shy cookie-baking domestic one with a broad streak of understanding what makes people's minds and emotions work, a strong dose of healer-instincts, and hidden strength behind the shyness and domesticity

Jiraiya: King of Cups
A wise advisor and sympathetic listener who's always hiding something, because at the same time he's a seducer who goes through women like kleenex and is congenitally incapable of being faithful to just one - the embodiment of contradictions

Kabuto = Page of Swords
Physically young but mentally many times older, a born researcher, spy, general information-gatherer, and skilled actor; fascinated by mental pursuits, eloquent, an ideal ambassador because he exploits any opportunity he's given; can use diplomacy like a fish uses water, though when he decides to take off the diplomatic gloves, watch out because hell's about to break loose.

Kisame = Knight of Swords
When negotiation doesn't cut it, his weaponry will -- and he rarely bothers with the negotiation part. Generally unemotional except for when he's lopping things to bits and cackling, and usually fearless. Defeat is not imaginable.

Kurenai = Queen of Swords
Lives on a man's terms in a man's world but is still unmistakably feminine; plays and fights with the boys on their terms; clear insight and sharp perception, stylish in a unique way that suits her but wouldn't suit anyone else

Kazekage-Gaara = King of Swords
Calm to the point of being chilly, aloof, in control, stern, just, and loyal, leads by command rather than by adoration but people follow him because they trust his power; an incorruptible pillar of strength

Who you gunna use for the Tower? It's like, the most important card in the major arcana (at least to me T.T) Wouldn't Kyuubi be good for that? Also, Death? I personally think sasuke would be kinda good for Death, as he marks the end of an era or the beginning of a new life (OF EBIL!!!)

Your descriptions totally rock my socks though n.n

Duuno what you'd do with the rest of the deck, as really there are only a few really important cards in each suit (the aces, the four personalised cards, and the cards with 5 on them)

Yah, dude, you rawk.

Gaara as The Tower. Shedding an old skin to become something new and healed. IE: shedding the evil of Shukaku to become a...er... good person? ;>

ooh more:

Rock Lee as The Star. Realizing that strength comes from within, believing in yourself against all odds without overinflated confidence.

The Sun can represent each 3 man team, seeing as it represents team work and the balance of teams, etc.

Yondaime as The Aeon-- The Aeon represents looking at the whole picture and the future, not just the present. Sacrificing himself was looking at the future. The future happiness and well-being of the village, instead of just the temporary here and now.
