Question About Hand Seals

Um...I was just being nerdy about Akatsuki today, as I do, and I noticed this;




What is this hand seal Sir Leader is doing here? I am writing about his displayed jutsu (this seal is connected either to the 幻龍九封尽 9 dragons seal, or with the projection jutsu, though they don't appear to be doing this back when they all meet in the cave). Because it isn't any of these;



(It's most similar 'rat' but not quite)

Here are Itachi and Kisame doing the same one. In fact, all the Akatsuki are doing this during the extraction ritaul.



None of the guides to hand seals I can find show it, just the twelve in the Fanbook scan. Are there more than those twelve seals (clearly there are, because Sir Leader is doing one...) and is there a guide out there beyond the twelve where I can get the wider opinion on it? (ie; Are there more displayed hand seals that don't fit with this group) Or am I just going mad? ^^

Naruto uses that seal when he does Kage Bushin no Jutsu, doesn't he?

could have something to do with the forbidden jutsu..?

It probably is forbidden...in fact, since Akatsuki are doing it, it's almost certainly fobidden! lol! I think in Kage Bunshin one of the hands is sort of crossing over the other...but I have to go look! XD *doesn't pay enough attention to the hero! lol!*

i would say sheep, but sheep has the left hand on top of the right. the rat isn't as similar because the top hand closes over the bottom. naruto's kage bunshin is very different and not in the list of the 12; his is like a plus shape with the right hand in front and forming the vertical stroke with 2 fingers. yeah. i assume it could be some other handseal but from what we know, there're lots of people who use different handseals eg Ino.

Yeah, I looked at Ram/Sheep, but both sets of fingers are raised there. I guess the best answer to my query is probably going to turn out to be that it's unique and forbidden. :)

If you slow down, say, the jutsus performed in the anime you'll regularly find hand seals that do not appear on that list. There are more. Lots more.

Oh poo. I was hoping it would be easy to find a reference of somekind...I think I might try to look at other sealing jutsu in action then and see if I can find any relations. :)

According to this site, its referred to as the "reverse ram" hand seal. There are TONS of seals differing than those 12. Take a look for yourself.

Would reversing things in Japanese beliefs make it evil the same way it is in Christian beliefs? Like reversed hymns?
