I just thought, since Naruto does live in a ninja village afterall, and a large one, their professions being dangerous no matter how good they are, wouldn't there be a funeral everyday? After you make Chunin, Jounin, wouldn't you get used to hearing about the death of someone you know every other month?

Well... these ARE ninja villages. The chances that many of these dead bodies are going to come back to Konoha at all, let alone in one piece, are slim, I'd say. If a ninja squad has to retreat, I'm wondering how easy it would be to escape with the body/bodies of fallen comrades.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be every day. They would be picked off REALLY fast if that was the case - and if they only pump out maybe a couple dozen graduating kids every year or so, then the likeliness of all the ninja being picked off before the next batch of genin come along would be pretty high.

There HAS to be other schools - but then again, if you look at the ep where the city is seized by the Sound nin (ep... 80?) you see all the Konoha civilians loaded into the bunkers in the side of the mountain. There HAS to be a lot of civilians too - who farms all the food, runs the city, etc?

Well... if you look at ep 1, there is a HUGE FLOCK of kids that graduated but were never seen again. Assuming they all either failed the test their jounin teacher gave them, or chose to take the Chuunin exam another year.... then they're all there, too. There has to be a lot more people.

I dunno :| Pride or not, I would definitely NOT be on the list of people to sign up my seven year old (or whatever age it is) kid to start NINJA SCHOOL, so that they could be trained mercenaries/assassins by the age of twelve. Ugh. It's a scary thought.

Well, in order to ensure high standards among ninja clans, they'd have to only accept the best, and in this case, only teams 7, 9, and 10 got to become Genin. Of course, this is just Konoha's Ninja Education Policy. I mean, the sand nins didnt exactly fare too well during their invasion, but after the time arc, the Leaf's Training Program, as the elders stated, was a great improvement.

Although the body performs best in its youth, there are many old ninjas that are quite skilled (like the Sandaime, Chiyo-baa, and the Sannin)

>.> Perhaps after the incorporation of medical teams and healing techniques, the mortality rate indeed went WAAY down. :P That'd make Tsunade happy.

Considering how things are unfolding in the manga lately I think the mortality rate is actually pretty low...as people are often found in the nick' o time or there are always life giving healers around. Unless you're from a village aside from the Leaf or Sand...then you're screwed.

Yes to that. Unless you come from Konoha, your survival rate is buggered. >:( Damn you Konoha, you ugly place.

>.> Funeral every day? I think that's why they separate the missions into D, C, B, A and S-class missions and assign them accordingly to the ninja's skill... you know, so they don't end up with a lot of dead kiddos.

Konoha bodies are incinerated and all traces are vanished from the Earth. My guess is that there isn't a big funeral procession, just a small gathering of friends at the memorial stone. Nothing really organized.

You have no idea how many times I've had to tell role players that NINJAS BURN THEIR BODIES YOU CAN'T HAVE SHARINGAN EYES.
