Would there be a funeral everyday?
Oct. 1st, 2005 06:04 pmI just thought, since Naruto does live in a ninja village afterall, and a large one, their professions being dangerous no matter how good they are, wouldn't there be a funeral everyday? After you make Chunin, Jounin, wouldn't you get used to hearing about the death of someone you know every other month?

They would be picked off REALLY fast if that was the case - and if they only pump out maybe a couple dozen graduating kids every year or so, then the likeliness of all the ninja being picked off before the next batch of genin come along would be pretty high.

Does the civilian population exceeds that of Shinobi? Is there another ninja school? Classes we didn't see? Or was it just this generation, the Nine Tails ate a lot of babies kinda thing?

Date: 2005-10-01 10:54 pm (UTC)Well... if you look at ep 1, there is a HUGE FLOCK of kids that graduated but were never seen again. Assuming they all either failed the test their jounin teacher gave them, or chose to take the Chuunin exam another year.... then they're all there, too. There has to be a lot more people.
I dunno :| Pride or not, I would definitely NOT be on the list of people to sign up my seven year old (or whatever age it is) kid to start NINJA SCHOOL, so that they could be trained mercenaries/assassins by the age of twelve. Ugh. It's a scary thought.

Date: 2005-10-01 11:29 pm (UTC)It is a scary thought, but it is relative, if you consider the fact that people in general don't live that long in this kind of universe. Ninja is an occupation with an expiration date as early as 40 unless you are really good. The body needs to be in good shape to do those cool moves, and if you want them to get the level of jounin at least you got to start them young, 10 is probably the normal age. You have to remember, that Team 7 is exceptional, most, the huge flock of kids, probably spent the last of their teen years doing D rank errands and C rank missions.

>.> Perhaps after the incorporation of medical teams and healing techniques, the mortality rate indeed went WAAY down. :P That'd make Tsunade happy.
