ah, my apologies for presuming ahead ^^; (the dude made me come out of the closet of fangirlism x.X) Mugen's awesome too, the whole series is. he cracks me up a lot. XD
well the episode titles are out as far as 158...and its still filler...157 is the end of the current arc & 158 will involve a mission with the konohamaru corps.
Anou sa.. I feel like I'm on of the 0.00000...1% who doesn't mind the fillers too much.. *eeps*D: I mean, I think it's nice that we get to see a bit more of the side characters too..
But of course I can't wait for the next Canon parts either...!^_^*fidgets* And dear lord, please no filling of the whole 2 1/2 years.. ô___ô;;
Nope! Isn't it great! :D Double doses of two different storylines a week. ^^
I am really fed up of the negativity surrounding what have been most entertaining and decent fillers. I am a hugely devoted Akatsuki fangirl and yet I am content to sit and wait for the time skip stuff; I like the fillers. I hope they do a million more, and just to be contrary now, I hope they never animate the Gaiden ever ever ever. :P
^^ No worries, I didn't say you were. But a lot of people are and it's kinda tiring when months and some really entertaining episodes later, peoiple still aren't willing to give it a shot. *le sigh*
Forgive me. I just get a bit touchy after swimming against the tide for so long. lol! :)
Well, my sole interest in the Gaiden really is in Earth country itself; Deidara is from Earth Country of course and I would like to see some of Deichan's homeland, even if he has shaken the dust of earth from his feet. ^^
I don't really care about Yondaime or Obito....I don't *not* care about them, but for whatever reason, I never formed a connection with either of them...:( Perhaps they'll click one day.
Sandaime > Yondaime. The fourth is another Deidara character...I don't think he'd be popular at all if it weren't for his "pretty" looks. Of course, I'd rather fuck Tsunade's grandpa...that guy was a hot zombie.
I think Deidara would still be popular as he's really funny (he and Sasori are such a magnificent double act, they're hilarious!), but it's surely very true that the way to make a character popular is to make them pretty. :( Sad and shallow, but true. I mean look at how many fans Sasori gained suddenly! People who hadn't looked at him twice for months (months in which he had been, incidentally, immensly amusing and smart not to mention attractive - Hiruko was a smexy tank of a puppet!) were suddenly all over him.
Yondaime is a very nice chap, I am sure (was a very nice chap) and very brave and talented and kind and probably a pervert (he was Jiraiya's student...) etc. etc. but...there is just nothing special about him that really grabs my interest. :(
Some of the filler is mildly interesting, but I am pretty fucking sick of it, especially this latest arc. Lamer version of the totally and completely awesome Zabuza/Haku arc.
I really would love it if they'd animate the gaiden (rabid Kakashi fangirl that I am) and just move forward. It's really bugging me.
None of that said to offend anyone, just my personal opinion.
Maybe I just look into it too deeply, but I think the resemblance to Zabuza and Haku is actually only superficial. After all, Raiga is very different to Zabuza, who Raiga has professed to hate. He seems motivated by a desire to do nice things and think well of people, albeit all achieved in a rather eccentric way, and unlike Zabuza, he's not ashamed by or unable to express his love for his little companion at all.
I think it's nice that in personality, he's very different from the two fellow swordsmen we know. If he had this capacity for compassion on display earlier in his life, I can imagine the company of Kisame and Zabuza amongst others would have been rather difficult...
For the fillers to portray the themes of earlier arcs recurring in new characters is perfectly acceptable when this is often what Kishimoto does himself, especially in the obvious parallels through the teams of each generation. His characters seem to often learn by relating and comparing memories of past events to the present. Naruto himself does it all the time.
I suppose it's not necessarily the Raiga/Zabuza and Ranmaru/Haku comparison, but what you said, the repetition of the theme. As it does happen a lot, I think I was disappointed in the way this one was portrayed. With other things that happen (i.e. team 7 paralleling the sannin's path, etc.) I don't feel like I'm being fed the exact same thing. With this arc, I really felt it strongly, maybe not necessarily because it is, but something about the story is just not sitting happy with me.
Or maybe I'm just delusional and can't pay attention because I'm wishing this were Kakashi Gaiden. But you do raise some interesting points, and it was good to hear why people like this arc. I personally preferred the Team 8 arc, but that's only because Hinata kicked total ass in that one ^_^
That Team 8 arc was brilliant; it had really great Hinata development and lots of crack. ^^ *is still amused by the enormous bug joke*...A lot of people don't give enough credit top Hinata for the way she does things because she's quite a shy and 'feminine' girl (and I think a lot of people think that for a female character to have value she has to be some ultra feminist amazon...:S) But I love Hinata as she is. ^^ In fact, I think she's my favourite of the Konoha genin girls. :) She's got modest determination.
I've been asking that for months...I got bored around when Inoshikachou showed up in the first one, actually. I decided not to watch the fillers until the time jump occurred...cause damnit, this is getting ridiculous. By the time all these random missions are done, Naruto will have no time for training with Jiraiya! XO
gotta admit. i think it's time the anime got some headway over the manga. i think it'd be cool if the anime showed a fair ammount of naruto's training with jiraiya, and their akatsuki-dodging antics. at least that way we would get two sides of the story instead of just manga, and re-watching old stuff with the anime.
Yeah... while I am an obsessive Kakashi fan so I want Gaiden reaaaaaally badly, I don't mind the fillers too much, because it is more Naruto. And when stuff not in the manga is shown, it is really really new. Of course, I do hate the fillers a little bit, because we know they are fillers so we know that nothing really exciting and story altering will happen... which makes them a little boring to me...

Filler means more original genin, which is always YAY! Now, I'm just waiting for that Sand Siblings mini-arc, and the filler will be all AWESOME ;-;
