chuunin_archiveSo Naruto 282 is bound to show up sooner or later (I think). For those of you who are at that point in the manga...
So how about it? Will Sai be male or female? What do you think will happen and what do you hope for?
my hope: he's a guy (Haku style, but still a guy nonetheless)
my suspicion: ...looking at the picture he might in fact be a she....I think it'll probably go like this. If it does happen this way, Kishimoto better steer away from the path of the Sue, or I'll be a saaaad panda.

See, SasuNaru is by far one of the most popular couples in Naruto. But he's can't obviously make the main characters of a shounen manga gay. But how does he satisfy the females fans?
By making Naruto's love internet (a girl. a.k.a Sai ) look like Sasuke, of course. That way the guys are happy and the girls are happy and Sasuke becomes available for a female character. Everyone's happy in the end. Ta da!

Then again, Kishi fooled me before...

Date: 2005-10-27 08:53 pm (UTC)I don't know. Most characters look like other characters just because of style so a short dark haired, dark eyed person would look like another short dark haired, dark eyed person.
I think a lot of yaoi fans won't be satisfied with look a like characters of the opposite gender. But I could be wrong, I mean. Look at what happened in Fuugi Yuugi.

Date: 2005-10-27 08:47 pm (UTC)I'm more interested in Tobi, and Sasori's spy, and the eyepatch guy, and seeing the other genin when they get back to Konoha, and what Sai's real purpose is anyways. I thought shinobi past Genin level weren't assigned to specific "teams" anymore. Shino was already going out on missions with his dad and the like. I'll be a little disappointed if all the Genin teams from before are still going on missions in the same four-person groups.
Should be interesting going to the Grass village to meet a spy, with a spy in their own group, though. I wonder if we'll see Zetsu and Tobi fight(if Zetsu is really from Grass village)...I'm guessing Tobi will be a comic relief character up until his first battle where he wastes somebody. Then he'll go back to being goofy again. ^^

I don't know if Kishi is a romance writer, but it doesn't make sense (in any media- comics, novels, whatever]) to just stick a person into a story and have people seriously falling head over heels for them. If there's going to be any romance in the story, it's going to be between characters we've known for a long time. If Sai is used to ignite romantic tensions, maybe... but he/she wouldn't be the romantic interest.
And having Naruto date someone that looks like Sasuke wouldn't make yaoi-fans happy, it would just infuriate XD. I'm a sasunaru fan and I can say I'd rather see it not happen at all, than to have some crackpot version. XP
...the romance theories are better than "The Lost Uchiha" theories, though x.x
