Hatred for Sasuke?

I first ventured out into the Naruto forum during this summer. I had expected signatures of half-naked girls, sexist, homophobic remarks, etc., but what really threw me off was the blatant hatred for Sasuke.
Sure, even though he’s the most popular character from the latest manga poll, I know there are tons of people who are unhappy with his decisions to run off and join Oto. However, I have never seen this amount of extreme hate for him by people who obviously didn’t bother to even understand his character.

Sasuke’s one of my favorite characters due to his contribution to the plotline (Even though I make fun of him (and it’s so easy), it’s based on the principle, “I love, therefore, I laugh”) so you can imagine the disgust I had while reading the comments. Eventually, I grew insensitive to all the bashing, and began to appreciate its’ humor value. I copied and pasted some quotes, and while some might be mind-buggling (especially considering the poster’s age), these really do exist. I want to know your opinions.

I completely understand why he's doing what he's doing, what he believes he'll accomplish, and why he acts the way he does. I still don't like him. He's safely the one character I can say that I hate in Naruto. And I like every character in some capacity. Well, not every single one, obviously.

With any large fandom, there's gonna be the overreactors about silly things. That's just how fandom is, especially for those entertainment media aimed at "young adults." chuunin is pretty good about not getting ridiculous about things.

So now that you know what it's like at narutoforums, it's up to you whether you wanna go back there.

I only go to Narutoforums to download the latest chapter and laugh at the bashers.

You have to think how those people can enjoy the series if they hate 2 out of 3 of the main characters. lol

My only issue with Sakura is that she was so shallow at the start. X.x I have more like for her in part 2.... but the beginning, her sole focus was Sasuke. She even gave up her best friend... for a boy that has no interest in her. x.x

My theory is that when there are more lovers of something, there are more haters too. I mean, you never see a huge group of people saying they hate Orochimaru. It's like.. kind of a given you're supposed to "dislike" him. Yah, I know there are Orochimaru fans, but still. XD But because Sasuke was liked so much, and then he went to the downard spiral, people were like OMGGG HATEHAHTEH@#$(@# THAT EMO BITCH AAAAGH#@(@#*#@

Eh. Personally, I just find Sasuke boring. He's a walking cliché. Despite all my attempts to find some merit in the character, that's the conclusion I always come to.

In all honesty, I love--and hate--Sasuke at the same time. I think that's what makes him such a dynamic character, that he gets juggled rather easily to opposite sides of the fandom spectrum because of this love-hate relationship. But the truth is, Sasuke's a walking paradox--he's totally undeserving of lavish praises diehard Sasuke fans seem to love to flower him with yet he's not the "stupid faggotity angsty asshole" most fans label him to be. Come on, he does have a anguish-worthy past, but then again so does 86% of all the ninja in Naruto.

And oh em gee, if you don't want to find a way to blow your fuse/ fandom/flittering hope in humanity really fast, don't hang around ANY forums. Morons, trolls mate and give birth to horrific hybrids at these forums. ^_^;;

On a personal note, I hate it when people compare Naruto's past to Sasuke's. You can't say one "felt" more pain than the other. Both boys obviously learned to cope with their hurt in different ways, which explains their polar opposite personalities and demeanors. And seriously people, Sasuke isn't the only one that's been through shit. I pity him at times, but I don't pity him to condone every single action and put his angst far above all others. Jeebus Christ...>_>

Kudos to your defense of Sasuke! Quite a few people have done so, actually, but it's always nice to know there are others who are not ax-wielding predatory Sasuke-eaters. *strikes pose*

ep. 102-106 = fillers = evil and wrong.
They focused on him being jealous of Naruto because of his powers, while in the manga, he was jealous because Itachi paid more attention to him.

I love Sasupants. Yes, I want to kick him in the head for betraying his friends and everything, but considering what he's been through, I just can't hate the poor misguided bastard. I will constantly call him names (Sasupants, Sauce-kay) or claim that he eats babies, but that's only because it's ridiculously easy to make fun of him. But I heart the bastard. Yes, I do. Who doesn't hate Sasuke-kun a little? EMO FREAK!!! (btw that icon made me giggle, my friends and I always make fun of emo-Sasuke...) But he is a 13 year old boy after all. Ah, the perils of teen angst. Fans can be so rough on these characters, but I think Kishimoto-san has done a pretty good job of keeping them at their ages, even though they have rough lives. I can't belive someone said that Sasuke is flatter character than Tenten... urgh... Have these people even watched the anime? This reminds me of a post I read at the beginning of a fic about how Naruto was a completely flat idiot character blah blah blah. It pissed me off so badly I didn't read the fic. I wanted to go off on the authoress, but I didn't. HE ACTS LIKE AN IDIOT TO MASK HIS PAIN, OR DID YOU MISS EVERY EPISODE?!? (except for the lame meaningless episode arcs where he is lame, just because he is lame) Oh well. I guess some people can't read into things, either Sasuke-kun or my little Naru-chan.
Ah well, I must admit I enjoy a bit of Sasu-bashing... it's just too fun. perhaps he should go listen to bright eyes and cry... It might do him some good.

It's fun to make fun of him (and he makes it so easy XD), but it's different when someone wishes he would hang from the highest tree.
Yea, what gets me the most is the ignorance in the bashers. You wanna hate the characters, fine, but atleast have a good reason.

I love how Kishi built Sasuke. It's hard to find more complex characters/series.

I'm a NF poster, hatred is rampant for many characters. It tends to be more allowed there than on livejournal so fans pick it up and run with it. It's sad but I've learned to debate them.

Hinata vrs. Sakura topics are much more viotale. But Sasuke is really hated there too.
