Those crazy bloodlines...
Nov. 13th, 2005 06:19 pmSo my friend and I were discussing the Clans (especially the Hyuugas, because they're crazy and crazy intrigues us) and we somehow got onto the subject of marriage. Well, we began to wonder if the members of Clans did arranged marriages. This could be plausible, because it very well could be that the Hyuugas (they will be the main example here, because they're not...well, dead!/unknown), who go to such extremes to protect their bloodline ability, would want their children marrying choice people to have a bunch of kids with to pass on the creepy eye powers. (I say the latter in jest. I make fun because I love!)
Beh, I just figured I'd bring it up to get some people's thoughts.
Speaking of the creepy eyes, is it just me, or is it that whenever we see any of the Hyuugas, they ALL have the same eye colour? (Ie, here and here) Now, either they're only showing the ones with the Byakugan, or they're doing some MAJOR inbreeding.
And where the heck are those kids' mothers? We got to see Sasuke's mom, why not Neji's or Hinata's?
Alright, shuting up now. I think too much. It will be my downfall.

Date: 2005-11-14 12:06 am (UTC)When I first saw Neji and Hinata, I was like, "Omg, they both look the same! Or is it just me? *nervous giggle*" Such obvious family traits. ^D^
I always hoped the Uchihas intermarried with the Hyuugas...but I doubt it. Sasuke with purple eyes! yey! "I'm blind! Someone help me..."

Date: 2005-11-14 12:06 am (UTC)I think it could go either way as well, because every Uchiha we've seen (with the exception of Sasuke's mom - but I don't even think she's a ninja) has had the Uchiha Creepy Eyes(TM) as well.
I'm sure there could be a million reasons why we don't see the non-creepyeyed family members, if there are any. Unfortunately, most of my ideas are in relation to patriarchal societies and make the feminist in me rage. -.-;;

Date: 2005-11-14 12:12 am (UTC)I totally hate that female ninjas are so disregarded. "why bother learning to be a ninja? your chakra is weaker and you'll just have to become a housewife anyway!" aauugh.

Date: 2005-11-14 12:16 am (UTC)Wonder if she still went on missions, or if female ninjas (the official term escapes my mind) pretty much give up "ninja life" when the babies come along.
That would suck, in my opinion - to get to jounin level and then have to give up all that you've worked for to take care of kids...
But then again, me + kids = complete loss of sanity. So it's probably just me.

Date: 2005-11-14 12:20 am (UTC)I think the Sharingan is more powerful, and I guess that would make sense genetically if considered an evolution. I always wondered why the hell Sasuke doesn't use it the same way Kakashi does. Why isn't he copying other people's techniques likesayidunno Rasengan, the same way Kakashi copied Zabuza's water techniques?

Date: 2005-11-14 12:24 am (UTC)I personally prefer the Byakugan over the Sharingan. As far as I know, it's got a nice strong base and admittedly hasn't evolved much, like sharingan, but it isn't damaging like the new sharingan thingy. *too tired to look for details*
I like the whole, "I seee youuuuu, even from over heeeeere!"

Date: 2005-11-14 12:24 am (UTC)I think your theory makes loads of sense. My kind of logic.
It also seems that the clan families are extremely patriarchal, at least to me. The few females you see (only one or two) are the mothers of the children. Other than that, women are seemingly nonexistant.
I'd also highly doubt any of them died in childbirth, being that the Narutoverse has mad skillz in medicine. So my bet is that in their mind, Men pwn Women. Kinda sad, really.

Date: 2005-11-14 12:28 am (UTC)I think if they have to have a seperate word to say specifically "FEMALE ninja" then it's a bit of a disregard. like not-so-long-ago in the real word when the first women in professions were called "lady doctor" or "lady judge".

Date: 2005-11-14 12:32 am (UTC)Heh, I'm just jaded. I think of it like going to cegep and university - what's the point of going, working super hard to get your degrees, paying countless amount of cash (and maybe even getting into debt) if you're just going to end up having kids after you get out of uni?
My mom went to secretary school, but stopped working when she had me and my sister. She only started working again recently, now that we're old enough to take care of ourselves. But, in the 20 some odd years she's been out of work, word processing went from typewriters and shorthand to Microsoft Word.
/end ramble
Beh. Like I said, I'm just jaded. I know for a fact (having a handicapped sister and me being a hellion) that raising kids takes loads of patience. I just don't have that patience and can't stand most children. V_V;;

Date: 2005-11-14 12:33 am (UTC)Neiji: I'm bored. *reads porn over kakashi's shoulder*
but Sasuke has seen the rasengan before. If he could've learned it from the fight on the hospital roof, why not use it during the fight on the waterfall? If it's within his chakra range, I think he should be using it. I can understand him not using the mass shadow clone technique cause that's really not his style. but for the life of me I can't think of any technique Sasuke has copied off someone else after seeing them do it. As far as I know, the Sharingan is ...I dunno, either Sasuke sucks at it because he has no one to train him how to use it, or he doesn't want to use it like kakashi cause he think copying is lame.

Date: 2005-11-14 12:39 am (UTC)*snort* it'd be funny if he had this awesome sharingan but was never taught how to use it (which apparently, he wasn't) and he's been wandering around going "fire-ball flowers, like daisies! whee!" when he could've been making volcanoes erupt and elephants have babies.
