Quick post before I depart to fail my Latin test. XD

Remember when I said that the Naruto fandom is a GOLDMINE for crack pairings? Crack pairings are fun and all, but with the crack pairings (and canon pairings too) comes the crack characterization...-_-;;

So.

What particular OOC trait (that even good writers are subject to butchering the characters with) irks you the most? Is there something among the rest of the OOCness that just...PEEVES you off to no end?

For me?

I hate when Naruto is like... the SUPER UKE. When the author makes him so fantastically gay that you're wondering if the story is a crossover with Queer Eye. Let's just put Naruto in a pink blazer and call him Carson, why don't we?

I mean SUPER UKE like... "OhGawdTakeMeNow Sasuke/Neji/Gaara/whoever/orallthreeofyou"

I also hate it when a character left on the outside of a pairing is warped to make said pairing look better. This happens mostly with Team 7 pairings, I think. For instance, sometimes with SasuSaku, Naruto is an ass to Sasuke and hates him for taking Sakura. Or with NaruSaku, "Sasuke is a traitorous idiot so we hate him now, that's why we can be together." And often with (my favorite)- SasuNaru - Sakura turns into the super!bitch! from hell.

I hate it when perfectly cannon parent(s)/families of characters suddenly die for no reason other than to give let them angst. "Sasuke, Naruto, I now know the real meaning of loneliness, we be best friends now, like totally, kay?"

This relates to my previous one, but instead of acting like best friends, the character would then become very cold to Sasuke and and expect Sasuke be to all, "Oh you poor thing, let me hug you now because you understand real pain." Um yeah, no.

Oh, and when Sakura grows up to have a totally model-perfect body but is dumber than a doorknob, ick. Super duper evil Sasuke who beats/verbally abuse his friends for no real reason other than having nothing better to do is annoying too.

Totally agree. I hate all the fics that make Ino or Sakura nothing more then squealing boy loving girls who only have the soul purpose of helping out a fellow female get glamed up to impress someone else....*insert barf*. Also hate when they write off Tenten as a major tomboy (yeah she isn't overly girly, but in no way is she a tomboy). *palm/face to Hinata based fics* omg...don't even get me started on those...

As for males....absolutely hate when any of the boys are overly mushy...they just don't come off as characters that would do such things.

Gai and Lee....argh...they aren't idiots! They love...and should be loved in returned!

Neji has problems, but he isn't mute...he's capable of more words than "Hn...." or the infamous "...............". He does smile now though...so he isn't always *ANGST*. He has emotions, but he doesn't over do it either.

Shikamaru is lazy, but he's not so lazy to the point where he cares about absolutely nothing. He knows when to be lazy, but he also knows when to do something.

Ahhhhh...and I absolutely HATE it...when people try to pair...EVERYONE. Not everyone needs to be paired off with someone. I mean from my point of view, and this is to address someone who mentioned Lee, I'm not so ready to pair Lee up with anyone at the moment. I can really see Lee being a spiting image of Gai in the future, with his own little group. And no, that has nothing to do with looks, it just has to do with his focus. But I adore Lee the way he is.

I also don't see (want to see) Hinata hooking up with anyone, and that is for the soul reason that if Hinata doesn't get over her crush on Naruto...that she'll never be able to move on. I want her becoming the head of the main house. I want her to actually have a focus...cause at the moment it seems like she's only concentrating on her feelings with Naruto.

*actually hopes that no one gets together at the end to avoid all the wars that would occur if one of the main ships were to prevail -_-*

But again...that's just my opinion. I see where all you other people are coming from with all the character OOCness and some of the pairings. But again...it's preference. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean other people have to hate them too. *shrug* I just avoid those fics all together *would rather read Team Gai and/or NejiTen and/or NaruSaku fics anyway*

- Fics where Sasuke suddenly realizes his deep, hidden feelings for Sakura. ...Right.
- Sasuke goes all ebilll, attacks Sakura, and molests her while everyone watches. And does nothing. Out of stunned silence, of course.
- KakaGai rape. It's just...wrong.
- Kakashi getting high/drunk and removing his mask.
- Retarded Naruto. ...::sigh::
- Badfics with Sasuke crossdressing for no reason other than that he can. We know the Uchiha's are naturally...pretty. Use it, don't abuse it. xD

This is a really hard fandom to write for because all of the characters are so damn complex. To have a good story, you've really got to get into their heads, then it gets long and then the other characters in the story get ignored. =(

I can't stand one demensional anyone... especially Itachi. I hate when people demonize him. Actually, I don't like demonizing anyone. Everyone makes mistakes. (Like I don't mind a younger Sakura or Ino getting upset for a while if Sasuke pairs up with someone else) but they are reasonable people.

I also can't stand it when Sasuke is rediculously more powerful than Naruto (especially the older they get). Come on, Naru-chan is going to be Hokage, he can't suck too badly. I typically don't like a really short Naruto, or too girly, or too stupid... but sometimes it can work. (not the stupid part) There's this one AU fic with a girly Naruto, but he's really talented, so it makes up for it.

I really really am disturbed by 12yr old love, like it's love for life. Jesus, they're 12. I wanted to marry Leonardo DiWhatshisface when I was 12.

Fics that have no point. I'm on chapter 45, and all the characters are randomly having sex with all the other characters, but I forgot what happened in Chapter 1... If you can write them long and write them well, more power to you, but I can't stand it when the plot disappears.

And then they demonize/victimize the character for doing it... like I smoked a bowl and now I'm addicted, or 'shit, that was awesome, let's try heroine.' I just don't see it.

When writers hold their chapters hostage for reviews. I like feedback as well as anyone, and if I'm not sure about something, I will comment that I might pull the story if I get a bunch of bad reviews, but come on people...

When the person who is bottoming is lame/submissive (even if only in bed) because of it. Just because some one is penetrated doesn't mean they're submissive. What does that say about heterosexuals. I'm certainly not lame in bed, and I definately don't have a penis.

People who write rape fics for the hell of it. Sometimes it works, usually it doesn't, especially in the Naruto fandom. They're ninjas for godsakes, and no one is meek enough to sit there and take it. (OK, I can see Orochi trying to take advantage of uber-emo Sasuke... jk!) *love to snakey-chan*

Others may have said parts of these, but...

1) Kakashi being excessively hyper and acting like he does towards Icha Icha issues in public towards people. Also a Kakashi who's utterly willing to take off his mask at the nearest chance.

2) Temari on SO many levels, both physically and mentally, I've seen her protrayed as hipbones-protruding-thin [has no one LOOKED at those lovely milky thighs? O___o?!], beach bunny tan [Yeah, the siblings are from the desert, but they're all pale royalty who've probably travelled under fans and shade a good portion of their off time >__>;], Temari having had sex with all of Suna and half of Konoha and being a sex kitten in general.

3) Shikamaru being uncabable of doing anything but talk about how troublesome everything is, every time he opens his mouth. Also a Shikamaru that is nothing but Temari's sex toy that doesn't seem to reciprocate aside from being generally aroused.

4) Pre-Kage Gaara who somehow learns how to fall in love without having a freakout session like he does at the displays of Gai for Lee and Naruto[/Sasuke] for Sakura, or having some sort of fumbling over it at least. Uke "hump-me" Gaara, period. [I doubt Shukaku would stand-by for submission without hissing in Gaara's ear to take charge, especially under Kyuubi.] Personally, Gaara with anyone but a sibling or Naruto [even though I don't personally like NaruGaa/GaaNaru, I can see it happening]. Maybe Hinata, maybe--only because he actually shows an interest in her battle with Neji--but that may have just been excitement over such actual intent to kill. Sakura maybe too, and I guess also Lee even though really people, Gaara actually did say he thought Lee was ugly o__o;; then again, whatever, they could develop something. x__x; but honestly I find Gaara beyond relationships even currently in the manga that are outside his family and Naruto.

5) Naruto who's either uber uke or hyper ADHD. He's grown-up, like others have said, and is very much a typical boy that wouldn't wash away into "Take me, ahn~~~" at the single come-on of another guy.

6) Nice guy Neji [No, not even Gai and Lee could rub off on him!] XD just because Naruto brought him above being an utter asshole doesn't mean he's suddenly the opposite. [Only Squall does that -coughcough-]

7) Kankurou who has sex with everyone, male or female, for no other reason than to get laid--like a fratboy.

8) Utterly uke boys who aren't Hakudearest to Zabuza. I can't think of any others who would be completely and fully giving, except maybe Lee to Gai, I guess? o__o;; [You know, I'd be interested in reading a fic where Zabuza "adopts" Kimimaro and Kimi and Haku hang out XD]


and there's always exceptions where I've seen authors do some things well and with reason, but yeah. Pet peeves.
