chuunin_archiveSo... I know a lot of people accuse the Sakura/Lee pairing to be the principal tool of NaruSasu fans for getting Sakura out of the picture, but really... I think this pairing is cute and it has merit. I think a lot of people treat it unfairly because Lee isn't as OMGAWDHAWTT!!11 as Sasuke.
Anyway... maybe I'm just a sentimental geek here, but I really like it. I'm always cheering for Lee, because he seems like the permanent underdog (even worse than Naruto, cause he's not the main character XP) and I really think he should come out on top in the YOUTHFUL FROLIC OF LOVE!!!! >.> Sorry, had a Gai-moment.

Lee IS one of the perpetual underdogs because he doesn't even have a cool family jutsu going for him like Chouji does. (I love Chouji too, but that's a rant for another time.)
It's really hard to find good fics about them though. Any recs?

Date: 2005-12-19 05:47 am (UTC)I really, really, really, really like Lee. He's one of my favorite characters, along with Gaara and Naruto. Therefore, I find Lee/Sakura to be kinda cute, but the only things I really "ship" in Naruto are Naruto/Hinata and Shikamaru/Temari.
And yeah, I can't stand NaruSasu, mostly because I don't like Sasuke that much.
So basically, I could take it or leave it, but I do think it's cute. Sakura's character kind of bores me, though, so...meh. ^^

Date: 2005-12-19 05:49 am (UTC)I believe that some people use LeeSakura as a way to get Sakura out of the 'hawt mansex' and that makes me sad. LeeSakura is a very cute pairing and needs more shippers.
Also I have seen LeeSakura used to get Lee away from Neji and TenTen so they can have a relationship, again I am made said. I personally think that LeeTenTen is a better pairing/more canon since I see Neji as an asexual. (With the exception of Hinata and Lee.(Not my ship but I still think it is more likely!)

Probably not, because unless Naruto becomes Hokage, he'll be killed on the spot. All this sugar-coating with missing-nin that everyone's always doing is just that. Sugar-coating. I don't believe any missing-nin will ever be able to redeem themselves. In Ninja!World, defecting from one's village is considered one of the greatest crimes one can make. I love Sasuke, but he's pretty much bird food if he ever get's the idea to return to his birthplace - not his 'home', as he's already stated.
...And Kishimoto is so totally hinting on NaruSaku/SakuNaru and SakuSai.

Not necessarily... I think the fact that they're searching for Sasuke with regular ninjas (his friends, in fact) and not hunter-nin/ANBU shows that they don't intend to kill him. At least, Tsunade doesn't. I don't doubt that what the rest of Konoha thinks of him is pretty bad... but the Hokage probably makes the final decision on matters like that.

Date: 2005-12-19 06:00 pm (UTC)I like them a lot, but not as a cutesy, fluffy couple they tend to be written as. I like the pain and struggle and unrequited love aspects it has potential for, which are all very well portrayed in SKitzoFreak's fic linked above.
Back to my fic... when Sakura revealed that she was now on a mission to save Sasuke no matter what, I sort of became less enamored with her character, since I really don't understand what there is to see in Sasuke. Blind obsession...made me lose respect for her, and thus I stopped writing my fic (lame reason, I know).
Which brings me to the obvious point - she's too hung up on Sasuke. And this again leads to the notion that a relationship between Sakura and Lee would have a whole crapload of emotional problems. She's not exactly that nice, just polite. And I don't know how aware she would be of Lee's feelings. So really, I am a huge fan of the sort of starcrossed LeeSaku dynamic...bittersweet and almost melancholy, rather than ohhh he's her knight in shining armor and she's really sweet to him in return...
Skitzofreak's "Strength" fic really sums it up for me. Haha..

Date: 2005-12-22 04:15 am (UTC)Seriously, though--it's a beautiful pairing, in my opinion, and I don't think it gets nearly enough credit based on its own merit. There's a really nice basis there, and I think their personalities compliment each other well. It's just so sweet.
For the record, yes--I am indeed a SasuNaru fangirl, but that honestly has nothing to do with my LeeSaku love. I just adore the pairing. :D
