Hokay, soh. The fact that Kabuto was the spy wasn't that much of a surprise, and from what a lot of people are saying, is that Kabuto is a traitor.
This is where i disagree.
As soon as i finished reading the chapter i automatically assumed that Kabuto is being the spy on Oro's orders.
I may be looking into this a tad bit too much, but i think this is all a huge set up.
We all know that Kabuto is a sly weirdo(waaaay back during the chuunin exam arc) and that he practically worships the ramen cups that Oro walks on. He dressed up as an ANBU warrior before, right? So it's possible he's pretending to be on the Akatsuki's side.
I dunno, i find it a bit too predictable that Kishimoto-sensei would make it so Oro was at the scene.
Maybe he's trying to trick Naruto's team? Or maybe it's got something to do with the Akatsuki? I dunno, but you're all free to shout at me now. I should not have watched Akira before reading Naruto T__T;

I had the exact same idea about Kabuto! I think its quite possible that he's just playing "spy" so Orochimaru can keep tabs on Akatsuki as well.

And then there's the possibility that Kabuto has his own plans... and he's just gonna look to join up with whatever side starts winning first. For instance, if Orochimaru dies, he could keep 'working' for Akatsuki...

I just wonder where Sasuke fits into all of this. If Kabuto is tricking the Akatsuki/Naruto's group, then it might not actually lead to Sasuke...then again, there is a possibility it will.

I think this is goin well the theory of him bein the eight tailed biju. Not too keen on myths but didnt Hachimata tricked the kyuubi into destroying the other biju or something like that(so hes like a trickster)? anyway i like where the plots headed

Yeah, I think Kabuto looked a bit unKabuto-ish...I don't think he's a terribly good actor. >:D And in the end, I honestly believe that though he loves Oro very much for being as devious as he is (high calibre companionship is so rare) Kabuto serves only Kabuto. ^^

I also think that Oro new that the leaf would send Naruto if Sasuke's name was mentioned.
I am wondering if this is not a way for Oro to get back wtiht eh Akatsuki. "Hey if I give you the fox boy and I be in the group again"
Then again he may just want to destroy Naru or something Taunt him with Sasuke >.> If he has not taken Sasuke's body over yet.

I was wondering if he might actually want Naruto's powers to himself, before the Akatsuki got him. But, then again, when Oro met Naruto, he wasn't so interested him at all.

I think Orochi might well want Naruto dead. He did before when he met him and realised who he was (and he didn't try to kill him up to that point of revelation, I don't think). I think a lot of threads might have converged?

It benefits both Akatsuki and Orochi to have possession of Sasuke. Orochi wants the sharingan as a study aid (and possibly as a shot at Itachi - how far Itachi gives a shit is unsure), and at the time he sealed Sasuke, he didn't know about Naruto (or rather didn't realise Naruto was the kyuubi at 12 - that was how I recall it when he met Naruto with Tsunade), so at the time Naruto was not part of the wanting Sasuke.

But Sasuke does make excellent bait for the kyuubi for Orochimaru or for Akatsuki. If he went that far to get Gaara back, Gaara who he barely knows, imagine how beserk he'd go over Sasuke.

Akatsuki and Oro's relationship is clearly not good; but other than what Orochimaru has said about Itachi, we know very little about the circumstances in which he left. Or indeed what he has done, could do, or knows, that continues to make him a threat the Akatsuki talk about.

Yeah, I think a lot of people started to suspect Kabuto being a spy on Oro's orders. He definately has his own agenda though, and I am glad it's not as obvious as him being Akatsuki spy and Oro being informed about this as well.

I'm inclined to agree with you as well. For me, it was totally a "Oh, PUH-LEASE, Kabuto's not that stupid." I don't know what side Kabuto's really on, but him just accepting a false Sasori and marking a sound off as a rabbit? No. Freakin. Way. Just no way. Kabuto would require proof of some kind that Sasori was really Sasori, and he wouldn't take a noise so lightly. Not if he was really risking his life. Kabuto's too much of a selfish, suspicious bastard for that. And that's why I love him. I refuse, absolutely refuse, to believe he wouldn't have already caught on.

Exactly. I don't know HOW Naruto's team think they can fool Kabuto with a false Sasori, he's not that stupid.
But also, y'know when Naruto couldn't even hear anything because of the wind blowing, then, maybe, just maybe, Orochimaru couldn't hear anything either, and maybe what Kabuto was saying was the opposite of what he was ordered to say? O:

I sincerly think that Kabuto has either is own agenda or his doing this under Orochimaru's order. But then again, after a quick reading of the translation, I think he is not doing it under Oro's order. And now, if I'm right, Kabuto is gonna be in big trouble since Oro saw the conversation.

As for Sai... I want to just strangle the guy. He's a jerk with Naruto and Sakura (I was so happy when Sakura punched him).

Orochimaru was watching him, right? That's why Kabuto turned around so suddenly and stuff. Good panel, that.

But Kabuto's always been wily and a good actor, and the bottom left shot of him on the 13th page is completely a uncharacteristic face/expression of his. I'd find it hard to believe that he's working for the Akatsuki because there was a moment in the Sasuke retrieval arc where Orochimaru was running out of time and Kabuto offered his body to Orochimaru's - unless he was bluffing and knew Orochimaru wouldn't accept the ofer. That bit still puzzles me a little.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was working for Orochimaru, but I can accept if it's not the case. So right now, he's spying for one of these - Akatsuki, Konoha, Jiraiya, Orochimaru or himself. o_0

If Kabuto's back in the manga there might be a chance that Kishimoto will raise his "old blood rising" issue, and that would be cool because I've been wanting to know what that was about for ages. This is all based off my only looking at the pictures and the kanji because I don't know what the hiragana means. :D
