The question I've wanted to ask for a long time...

What do you like better? The Naruto anime or manga?

I'd say I love them both, but the manga's my favorite.

Considering the anime and the manga are almost exactly the same, I like either one. Since the anime went into fillers, I haven't been watching it. I don't care about stuff Kishimoto didn't dream up in his twisted mind.

That reminded me, it's different to read a line and then to actually hear a character say it. Like when Kakashi had Sasuke tied to a tree after his fight with Naruto and he says something along the lines of "all my friends are already dead" and in the manga he looks so happy and it's kind of creepy, but in the anime he says it more sympathetically. He still looks happy, but you can hear the hurt in his voice. I guess that's a personal thing, tho; whether you like making up inflections yourself or actually hearing them. Just my two cents.

I'd have to wholeheartedly agree with you there.

I hate the filler arcs in the anime, though. I don't care how much people like their crackishness...I think they are stupid for the most part. I must admit, some of them genuinely catch my attention. They cannot compete with Kishimoto's storylines, though.

I'd have to say I like the manga better. The dub anime is annoying with the constant "BELIEVE IT!!1!"s are really annoying (my roommate and I have started running tallies of how many times he says it each episode), although the original Japanese's "ba yo"s are kind of cute. I like some of the voices (weird thing: Naruto's Japanese voice is perfect to me while the dub is annoying, but I like Kakashi's dub voice much better than the Japanese), and it's always cool to see characters moving and in color, and of course the anime is more crack-ish at points, but I love the manga. It's smoother, story and art-wise. The colored pages are beautiful. It just seems like they spent more time on it.

So, I like them both, but I love the manga. :)

I will admit, I do like them both, however...

Considering I've been waiting for the Kakashi Gaiden to be animated for...uh...oh I've forgotten how long now, THE ANIME IS MAKING ME FRUSTRATED. I stopped watching it, I admit, and will resume once the rapes fillers are over.

In all honesty, though, the manga does take precedence over the show in my book. ^^

I prefer the manga. Although the anime is an exact copy of the manga (save for fillers) I thoroughly enjoyed bits more in the manga such as the naruto and curse seal sasuke fight (the anime had some amazing crack expressions though and was amusing yet didn't capture the emotion the manga had I think). I also prefer the manga because it doesn't do fillers, the only filler I have ever liked was episode 101 hehe.

Although the anime is an exact copy of the manga (save for fillers)

and edits. (eg. Neji's curse seal, the size of the holes in his fight vs. Kidoumaro, Sasuke impaling Naruto)

and you're right with saying the manga even when it is inanimate, manages to deliver more emotion and impact. i remember literally GASP-ing opening into the page where Sasuke's hand went through Naruto. and the succeeding pulling out of his arm where you could almost hear the morbid squishes of Naruto's burned tissues and feel how painful it must be.

The manga, hands down. I get a completely different feel for the characters and the story from the anime- one that doesn't resonate with quite the same emotional effect as the manga. Even with the same actions and dialogue, the anime feels lacking somehow. The only part of the anime I felt was honestly more enjoyable than it's manga counterpart was the Lee vs. Gaara fight, which simply has the most amazing animation.

The anime also seems to segment Team 7 so that it's always NARUTO, Sakura and Sasuke. Team 7 has never been the most functional of units, but I didn't feel that they came together in quite the same way that they did in the manga, which, of course, made the painful process of them being torn apart that much less effective.

And because they can't afford to catch up to the manga, the anime is often forced to circumvent character developmen arcs; for example, between Sasuke being healed by Tsunade and Sasuke demanding to fight Naruto on the roof, there were several weeks of filler in which Team 7 acted normally towards each other. The scene on the roof came completely out of left field. Also, now, instead of having Naruto simply leave the village like he said he was going to, we're being treated to months upon months of pointless filler that in no way enriches the plot.

This is hardly the anime staff's fault, mind you. What else are they supposed to do? Considering the manga itself went on hiatus, they're only a little over fifty chapters behind. They can't afford to get stuck in a rut once they hit the time skip, so I understand completely why they're taking their time. But I still don't like it. -_____-;;

So, as you can tell from reading this pretentious post, I'm a bit of a manga based snob. I do occasionally enjoy the animation and the spotlights on the side characters presented in the anime, and 'Wind' is simply one of the best anime endings ever (and, as a song, more or less serves as a metaphor for the entire series), but I can't help but feel something is lacking from the anime. Call it the Kishimoto touch if you will. ^___^

I love the manga and the anime. Honestly, though, when it comes to action stories like Naruto, I always hold the anime in high regard. When I watch a fight scene in the anime, I feel exhilarated, but when I read it in the manga, I kinda just rush through it. Seeing the actual motions is the biggest perk for me. For example, when Sasuke fought Orochimaru in the forest... it was just so much more awesome to see it happen rather than just flip through the pages.

Hmm... maybe that means I'll really enjoy Sakura's fight with Sasori when its animated.

*minor brain spasm* OH HOLY WONDERFULNESS! ANIMATED Sasori and Deidara!!

*can't wait for april to come @_@*

ME too!!! i love the manga, it's so wonderful. the reason i like anime is b/c of the color, voice actors, and songs, but with the manga, anything can happen! it draws you in so much. :)

I love them both dearly, but except for the filler arcs, I actually prefer the anime. The action scenes make so much more sense, and are so much more exciting, when I can see them in "3-D" (so to speak) and in motion as opposed to trying to interpret frames on a page. It was hard for me to get into the series before I watched the anime, but afterwards Naruto ranked among my all-time favorites.

That makes me want a Naruto I-MAX movie so badly.

I love 'em all. Manga for when I'm feeling serious about the plot, anime and filler for when I'm completely burnt out on it and just want the crack value. Although, a lot of the fillers aren't even crackish...

Manga. I have some issues with the anime's pacing. I like it, but Ilike the comic better.

Manga. The fillers don't bother me that much, lots of them I actually liked, but many moments of the storyline got ruined for me by the way they were done in the anime. For example the whole Haku/Zabuza storyline being stretched was great, they're my favourite characters so I was happy about seeing them for a longer time, but I thought the scenes in the manga with them were much deeper and the scenes of them passing away were much more touching. To me the anime's good for getting excited over fights or for funny scenes, but for watching the characters grow and following the emotions they go through I prefer the manga.

I'll start out by saying that I saw the anime first, fell in absolute love with it, and then much later, after many months of holding out so that I could see things for the first time in animated color, read the manga.

Overall, I like the anime better. I like anime better overall, with the exception of a few series, and I have issues reading for long periods of time anyway. I can't always interpret what's going on in action scenes in manga very well, so that probably also influences it.

Hearing and seeing everything for the first time makes it more dramatic for me, because you get no warning. I'm not sure how to explain what I mean, exactly. ._. I also like the LITTLE bits of filler in the anime because it fleshes it out and makes it more interesting.

On the other hand, I like how the manga gets right to the point. No unnecessary chapters. The anime filler (which I abandoned as well) is just...totally messing everything up. Naruto only has 3 years to save Sasuke, and with all this filler, Jiraiya's mission is going to wind up taking at least half a year, totally screwing everything up. He's in a fucking hurry, goddamnit.

I love the anime for bringing us fanservice, extra moments that are left out of the manga, but yeah, the fillers. I like all of the voice actors and how they did the Naruto vs Sasuke scenes though.

Aw hell, I should probably stand back and see what's going to happen when they animate Deidara and Sasori.

i say the manga for the story, the anime for some of the confusing pages getting animated and for all the seiyuu!! ^.^

but most of the time, it's the story that matters to me really. :)

No matter what the series in, the medium that it came in first is always better. The Naruto manga's better, the Bleach manga's better. However, Mai-HiME and Mai-Otome have great TV anime series, but the manga bastardizes everything.

Stupid adaptations.

Hmm...I'm a fan of the anime actually, maybe it's cause I'm lazy, or I can't get that much emotion out of words, I barely cried in HP 5 >>; So, I like the anime, but not the fillers, it's nice to explore characters...but I kinda wish they would just do the freaking plot jump already, cause I'm ready to see some hot bodies...haha :P
