So. Because it's two thirty in the morning and I'm feeling random (being the Duchess of Randomness and all...)

Feeling nostalgic and wanting to reminisce over good times… I have a question for you all.



Naruto is a very popular series, and I think a lot of that has to do with its emotional impact (even though with the current filler arcs in the anime you’d never know that was the case… >.<). I personally adore the manga because of the characters – I just love them all! – and their development. So:

Are there parts of the anime and/or manga that have made you cry, or even almost cry? Which ones?

There are lots of sections that got me emotional and stuff – that’s easy to do, with me. But two particular scenes always make me want to cry – Sakura confronting Sasuke just before he leaves (because as much as I’m a traitor to virtually ever pairing I have ever shipped I’m a pretty diehard SasuSaku fan ^_^()…), and the end of the final Naruto vs. Sasuke fight. I cried almost as hard as I did at the last episode of Fullmetal Alchemist… it was ridiculous. My brother said I was a moron… hah. (*sigh* Both those scenes involve Sasuke… I’m so hopeless. For Christmas I got a shirt with the fan crest on the back of it, because I’m Uchiha-obsessed and everyone knows… XD)

So… tear-jerking scenes? Thoughts?

I felt a tear during Chouji's fight.

Actually, the only times I've cried because of either anime or manga were the Momiji parts of Fruits Basket.

During the Sasuke Haku Fight when Sasuke looked dead. I was such a n00b to like angsty Sasuke...but he was cooler then. I also cried when Sasuke Left...mainly because of Sakura...I relate to her a lot in real life and I know the pain of someone leaving when you love them...

I think I might've cried when Sasuke "died" during the fight with Haku, but it was so long ago I hardly remember. But it was rather emotional, either way.

I definitely got tears during Sandaime's funeral. And again when Sasuke was leaving and Sakura confronted him. I don't remember whether or not I cried at the end of his fight with Naruto as he left to Orochimaru's, but if I didn't then there was a ton of mist in my eyes. And there have also been sniffles for little Gaara.

Yeah, I know, I'm a wimp. But I'm secure enough to admit it.

...was in the manga as well? In the anime, as the Hokage's eyes were on the verge of closing, he saw Orochimaru as he was when he was his young student, instead of looking desperate and wicked.

I find lots of anime sad, and usually with most of the series I watch (yes, the shojo fluff and such, I do watch other things), I find myself crying about once or twice, usually when the series is ending and I'm sad about that.

Not Naruto.

I've cried a whopping 6 times during this damn show, and it's not even over yet.

1) Sasuke "dying" during the Zabuza/Haku arc (I really thought he was dead! I'm really gullible, I know)

2) Zabuza crying totally set ME off on my own crying jaunt, especially when he told Haku he wished he could go to where he was.

3) Rock Lee standing up, unconscious, to keep fighting against Gaara.

4) Hinata's fight with Neji-he pissed me off SO much during that thing, and I'd heard rumors that she died, so...yeah, I was pretty upset when I didn't know if she'd make it or not.

5) Sasuke vs. Naruto (Of course!)

6) Shikamaru crying at the end of the Sasuke-in-a-barrel arc (No, I managed to keep it in when Chouji and Neji almost died, though that butterfly really almost got me, but when I saw Shikamaru crying I was like oh MAN).

I've gotten sniffly at other parts (Tsunade's past, any time Akamaru gets smacked around and Kiba's all WOE, realizing in general that team 7's going to follow the sannin's path), but those are the ones that were full on SOBS.

Yeah, make fun of me now. Damn you fictional shows!

Naruto's anger during that time was quite genuine too. it was the first time we see him getting really angry for what happened to a friend.

It's not often I get to see moments of shoujo in anime that doesn't feel fake. That was when I really love Sakura and became an InoSaku fan. ...damn the continuing Sasuke obsession in Part II... *long suffering sign*

Naruto and Sasuke's fight in the anime, and strangely, it was those episodes that had me convinced that what will always be foremost between those two is brotherly love, even if they do somehow end up together, it's comradery, it's a sense of family that draws them close.

Gaara while he was being extracted in Part II, in between the flashbacks, his self-pondering, as he hits the ground. That really almost made me cried, and I really hate the cop-out that killed its effect afterwards, as much as I love Gaara especially after those moments.

I think I must be the only person in this fandom who didn't... Sad, but no actual tears. But in my defense, I saw it years ago, and contrary to what you think might happen when you get older, I only got MORE emotional, so that now I cry more easily at fictional things. ^_^()

the flashbacks in the manga also somehow were presented perfectly, not being too overdone which i think what the anime did.
ugh! it's the entire arc! right up to Sasuke kneeling down to Naruto.
(for some reason, whenever those two fight, it's a pain to see T_T)

for runner-ups:
Gaara's situation (those childhood flashbacks, tsk)
that cut sequence in the later manga where Gaara cries all alone
Sasuke tsukiyomi'd by Itachi >.> (the "drools" were an indication of the immense pain)
and the only time i think anime > manga in terms of emotional impact: Iruka genuinely crying in the very 1st episode

oh yeah, the finale of Neji's fight in the manga. it wasn't really a tearjerking scene (never really cried in any of the above, i only get really depressed) more like a GASP-inducing one. cos he was all hurt and banged up and my god, it was like a torpedo went through him. his miserable look there finally sealed my decision to forgive him (for his previous atrocities towards Hinata). and in the manga, you were never given the hint he'd survive so i was like running around with nervous omg's for weeks!!

Wah... just looking at that page now has me all teary.

I cried with the Tsunade flashbacks and with the Tsunade/Naruto "I believe in you" moments. I was bawling like a baby with the Sasuke/Naruto fight, and pretty much all of the Superteams fights. Oh, and definitely Lee's breakdown when he thought he wasn'r going to regain the use of his legs. ;___; LEE!

Of course I went all wibblysad when Haku and Zabuza were all deaded, but the wibbliest I got was Kakashi with Naruto in his arms after Saucekay had beat him up good and proper. ;~; Oh, and Sarutobi's funeral. I loved that guy. :S

I also cry whenever Orochi and Kabuto aren't in it, but I don't think that counts. XD

I've cried quite a bit in Naruto. I've choked up and/or gotten sniffly a lot...but I've only all-out bawled a few times.

1) When Zabuza dies...his final words to Haku really set me off.
2) Various flashback scenes of Gaara's. Oh man, was he cute and sad.
3) Chouji's fight - especially in the anime. The whole scene with the butterfly...I was gone. Probably cried the hardest here.
4) The end of the fight between Sasuke and Naruto - oh, the angst.
5) When Shikamaru cried at the end of the Kentucky-Fried-Sasuke-arc. Shika doesn't usually cry, so when he does, it's because there's something to cry over.

I cried during Gaara's flashbacks, when that girl cried "Get away, you monster!" after he tried to give her some medicine.


And I cried when Sasuke beat Naruto up. I also cried in the first eppie xDDD. That's lame. I almost cried about Sasori and his doll parents O__o buuuut, I got over that.

(Heh... I watched the ending of FMA with a friend of mine - she'd already seen it, and we both still ended up balling our eyes out and clinging to each other... Still makes me sad to think of it, actually.)

I forgot about the Gaara flashbacks for a moment... and then I watched them a few days ago and yeah... Poor kid, he barely ever catches a break.

1. Zabuza's death.
2. The part where Sandaime is facing down Orochimaru and you see the big montage of Konoha shinobi teams... and of course the funeral.
3. Chouji and Neji. 'Nuff said.
4. Probably other places I've forgotten.

1. Zabuza's death. I read this part in Shounen Jump USA before I actually got into the fandom, and I don't care what anybody says about the translation, that thing made me bawl. XD;
2. When everyone and their brother showed up to rescue Gaara.

I hardly ever actually cry over anime, but all through Gaara's past I was sad and then at the end I almost couldn't take it ;_; He just needed a hug so bad. No kid deserves that!

The whole end of the Haku fight where he explains that his dreams are Zabuzas dreams and he would give his life to make those dreams come true. His devotion and how it didn't look like it was returned was so tragic and then Zabuza cried too, and that did it for me.

I'll also go out on a limb for me and say that I found Chouji's story and fight particularly touching. Lee's determination, too. Wow! This is quite the emotional series.

The only scene that got me actually physically shedding tears was Sandaime's funeral. The fight between him and Orochimaru was so dragged-out that I was getting bored with it and his death didn't hit me until the genin processed by his casket, laying the peace lilies and remembering moments with him. That's when my breath involuntarily welled up in my chest and the tears stung.

Aside from that, the Sasuke rescue mission was beginning to get to me when I realized that all my favorite characters were being killed off in one go--and I didn't know they were going to pull through. Chouji was just devastating because he's so lovable, Kiba is among my top favorites [Shikamaru and Gaara are my top-top favorites] and since Shika was leading I was afraid he was in jeopardy. I didn't cry, but I was really upset.

I only ever cried during the manga... but I cried SO MANY TIME >_<

the part that gets me every time though is when Naruto and Sasuke are fighting. The entire time I sob my eyes out reading that. All I have to do is look at one picture and I cry hysterically.

The last episode of FMA made me cry really hard too >_< and I'm not even an emotional kid and here I am blabbering on and on about how I cry for Naruto all the time -_-
