Quick ? about chap 249

Hey there, quick question.

In chap 249, Deidara calls Sasori "Sasori-danna," which I think means husband. Also, in chap 247, Deidara says "Sasori, your husband should watch too, yeah."

Can anyone give me a little light on this? This is all probably because I'm a really confused non-Japanese speaking/reading/understanding fan.

I think danna is just an archaic form of a superior...I'm guessing since Diedara is so sarcastic he likes to poke Sasori's buttons about how Sasori seems (seemed?) to think he was all powerful and Diedara was weak while Diedara, I think, thought he was stronger then Sasori, but that's just my take XD

...have you been reading Memoirs of a Geisha? X3 (That word is mentioned in there, and the geisha refer to their husbands (kind of) as their danna.)

Yah, the husband thing was a mistranslation, but most people didn't seem to get the message. >.>; Yah, as some other person said, it can mean something like "superior" or "lord" or something. Because if the husband thing WERE true, then Deidara was saying that Sasori was Yuura's (whoever that big lipped sand dood was) husband. >.> Which doesn't seem to make sense whatsoever.

"Danna" can mean husband, but according to my fluent speaker, it's something that you might call the mob boss. She told me it's like a more casual form of "senpai." That was a mistranslation...they probably thought Deidara was a girl. Or that Sasori was a girl. o_o;;

But, yes, the phrase was meant to say that Yuura should watch Deidara's awesomeness. >:3

It means both "husband" and "master".

The mistake arose from the big gender confusion about the Akatsuki back then.

'danna' or 'no danna' as honorifics do mean husband, or Master (in the old context of Master of the Household). The term was also used for the patron of Geisha. ^^ There was a lot of gender confusion arounf Sasori and Deidara when they first appeared, and it was a mistranslation. Deidara is talking to Sasori and as I remember it, what he actually says is something along the lines of 'all Sasori danna has to do is watch'. (Like, as in 'sit back and watch me!') ^V^

One of my friends said the "Sasori, your husband should watch too, yeah." was him being a smartass and referring to Yuura as being Sasori's husband. @@;
