Question, question, question!

I don't know if this question has been discussed before but something just popped into my mind after I just finished watching episode 131 (and bawling my eyes out.. ;_;).
We know that Itachi told young Sasuke after the massacre of his clan, how to exactly obtain the Mangekyou Sharingan and where he could find this information.
Then at the Valley of the End Sasuke calls Naruto his best friend, well aware that killing his friend is the precondition to get Mangekyou Sharingan.
Now imagine, Sasuke knew all the way from the beginning that he would eventually (have to) kill Naruto, back from where they first got sorted into a team, when Sasuke threw himself in front of Naruto to save his life, all the way through the Chuunin Exam and of course after that.
Do you think Sasuke was just like Itachi with Shisui and let Naruto become his friend because he knew, he needed one (as macabre as this might sound) or did the stupid, blonde little dobe just find his way into Sasukes heart?
Because Sasuke sure says it like it was his intention to begin with to become friends with Naruto. But still, can you become friends with a person just because you decide it's necessary? I mean, here it gets tricky because we do not have further information on the conditions for Mangekyou Sharingan than "killing your best friend". Still I am quite convinced that a decision to become friends cannot equal real feelings of frienship.
What do you think?
Woah and I just realized once more just how complex Sasuke and Naruto'srelationfriendship really is!

Date: 2005-12-30 03:13 pm (UTC)I believe that it isn't really 'kill your friend and poof! instant Mangekyou!', but rather the idea of completely shedding your humanity, the way Itachi has done. He kills without hesitation, and he doesn't care that he's doing it, either. People are like flies to him. For that kind of power, you have to give all of yourself over.
Sasuke is a bit different. I think Naruto did make an impact on him, and also made him realize that he isn't prepared to relinquish what makes him human, otherwise he would've killed him.
/end babble/
XD Sorry, it's just these types of topics always make me want to prattle about Mangekyou theories...XD
