Think about it, Sasori's hair is not just red, it's bright red, like Gaara's.

Now, let's look at the Sand Sibs:

Temari: Looks like her mom, similar shades of blondes, her mother, well at least her mother's twin Yashamaru, has a darker shade of blond, but they were older.

Kankuro: Looks like his dad, same shade of hair, face very alike without the paint. Fan crack theory is that he puts the paint on because his face makes his brother angry.

Gaara: Bright red hair.

I mean, think about it (do it for the sake of sweet, sweet, crack), Gaara's mother died bitter, by the year of her last child's birth their marriage might have some bitterness. How long ago was it when Sasori left Suna? Okay, probably right after he carried off his favourite puppet Sandaime Kazekage, but a boy would miss home now and then, eh?

Okay, so Sasori-danna isn't the most sexual of characters, but come on, to have on record as killing a Kazekage and nailing the next one's wife, yeah. XD

Well...I don't think Gaara is Sasori's son, however, there are certainly physical similarities. Perhaps a shared relative somewhere in the family tree? Sasori's family was clearly a prestigious one with a prominant role. Gaara does look like his father though.

I think Kankurou wears the kabuki paint because he's a theatrical performer (though the ancient Japanese art of puppet theatre is not kabuki of course, but Bunraku).

I asked my friend who had a genetics class -- she said red hair is the most recessive.
So, given that the father has brown hair with red hair gene that does not show, and the mother has blonde hair with red hair gene that does not show, it is possible for the couple have to child with brown, blonde, or red hair between them. Quite fascinating, really.

Something similar happened in my family. My parents and I all have varying shades of brown hair, but both my brother and sister are redheads. There's red hair on both sides of my family, so it just worked out that way.
