Uchiha Hapi coats?
Jan. 9th, 2006 11:17 amOk, so, this is my first post here, Hi, Naruto fangirl, yadda yadda. I've got no ships (really, I don't.), and just one crack theory. Other then that I'm a novice cosplayer waiting on her loving mother to send her a sewing machine so she can get cracking out on her 50 billion things she needs to make (I want to make Temari by Halloween so I can were it to my classes). I'm also one of those JETs you hear about, who has a position assistant teaching English in Japan.
Anyway, onto what I really wanted to talk about. I have the ability to go and buy hapi coats cheap, and to bring in a little extra income to my life, I wanted to make hapi coats with the Uchiha Fan on it. Not 100% sure how I'm going to do it yet (with fabric or paint, and I AM open to suggestions here), but I know I want to make them at least for my Naruto friends.
So, a poll, if you will:
[Poll #648397]
I've got free time, so if you have suggestions of how you would put the fan on the coat, let me know. Like, Sasuke cosplayers, do you paint the fan on, or sew one on?
Thanks in advance.
edit: Hapi coats are the short kimono jackets worn at festivals. I'm thinking I'll likely get haori, wich are the same, just worn as kimono jackets. . . errr, anyway, you get the idea, you know what they look like. We'll see what I get, and what colors. thanks so much you guys, for your interest. ^.^

Date: 2006-01-09 04:17 am (UTC)I honestly voted no thank you, but not because the idea isn't stellar but because I have no interest in Uchiha gear.

Date: 2006-01-09 05:10 am (UTC)If this works out, I am thinking I will definetly try a Naruto one. Not sure what I would do for it yet, but if you have a suggestion, I am alllllll ears for a Naruto design as well.
Cause, you know. Glutton for punishment and all that.

Date: 2006-01-09 06:18 am (UTC)Are kids up there as averse to learning English as they are down here? In my prefecture guide book I got from the PAs it even says "Inaka kids are what they are."
Only another 20 months...
Re: JETs UNITE!
Date: 2006-01-09 07:09 am (UTC)Heh heh, you in it for 2 years too then? I think that's my max too, unless they will move me in my third to Kobe, where my host family lives. Because I would be willing to stay another year in Japan if I was living near them, they were really nice people and I wish I could see them more often. . .
Re: JETs UNITE!
Date: 2006-01-09 07:31 am (UTC)I lived in Japan as an exchange student before JET so by the time all this is said and done I'll have spent over 10% of my life in Japan.

Date: 2006-01-09 10:45 am (UTC)I'm pretty excited to get started, but I have to wait a little before I can get the coats (two weeks), so I've got time to work on patterns and think about customizations that I can add. We'll see. I'll make another post about them when I buy the coats.

If you started doing this...how much do you think you'd sell them for? I'm very interested.

Date: 2006-01-09 10:05 pm (UTC)And hey, if I didn't live in Japan, there would be more wearing of costumes. But I live in Japan. In the country. They give me enough funny looks already, lol!
