I TOTALLY just figured out Neji. XD

I decided to do some research on the Swastika (which can literally translate to 'let good prevail', and was originally a Hindu thing) and found that the kind the points to the left means 'left-hand path' and the kind that points to the right means 'right-hand path.' So I looked THOSE up on Wikipedia, thought way too hard about it, and came up with this:

Neji's seal points to the left. This means that he focuses more on self-advancement than on other goals, like the duties he was given along with the seal. However, if he were to look at the seal in the mirror, he'd see it pointing to the right, which would imply he has to concentrate on the main family.

Does anybody else think that makes sense? I kinda doubt Kishimoto thought that far through, but then again, you don't choose a controversial symbol for nothing, ya know?

I think that's a really interesting thing you brought up. But don't underestimate Kishimoto-sensei. I swear that mangakas are on crack and think things out WAY more than you think they do.

i.e. Konomi-sensei (creator of Tennis no Oujisama) created the character Kikumaru Eiji, whose birthday is 11/28. the 'Kiku' in Kikumaru means 'chrysanthemum', which is the flower that represents the month of November, and the meaning of chrysanthemums in general are 'friendly, cheerful', which is Eiji's personality. Have you ever read Death Note? Oobata-san makes that up as she goes along and things work out crazy well, to the point that you'd have o idea she was just making things up.

Well, I mean, she didn't have everything all planned out yet. Certain elements of the plot resolved themselves in odd ways that worked perfectly when she had no idea how it would work at first.

Now I feel dumb. :(

Oh, ok. Yeah, I was baffled at first, too. The way I heard it, she tries to plan things out, but her editors want her to slow down, so she does and has to scrap things in the process and basically pull plot elements out of her ass. I believe the death of [really awesome character] was probably a result of this. I doubt she wanted DN to go on for as long as it as.

I thought you were being sacastic before. Tone does not transfer well over teh internets.

But...Obata doesn't write Death Note, she just does the art :O Did she take over the writing later on?

HOW INTERESTING. I can say only for sure that K. would not use such a symbol at random, without purpose.

That makes alot of sense!

I always thought that the Swastika on Neji's forehead symbolized the life that he could have, it only he would reach up and take it. (The Swastika looks alot like a Native American symbol for life- the one that Hitler used. (Hitler was mocking the world, or so it seems.)

And also the Swastika appears on alot of statues of Buddha, and according to the databooks Neji's hobby is meditation. Go figure.

Yeah, they should be. O_o; You know that crazy-long jutsu list on Wikipedia? That was in the latest datbook. (Minus timeskip!jutsu and jutsu from the movie)

There are three out right now for the Manga, and there are also three out for the Anime, however the Anime ones cover fillers and are more of a 'storybook' of sorts.
