Sasuke this, Sasuke that... HE'S NOT THAT GREAT

Okay, i gotta say this to all you naruto fans out there because it really bugs me. Why do people read/play/watch things and instantly be like " oh man he's so badass" when an antihero is introduced. sasuke's character is down-to-the-letter stereotypical anti-hero-ravenge-boy! what's the bet when sasuke returns, within a week of the chapter, the internet will be flooded with crappy fanart of him; with maybe a handful of good pictures. most of which sasuke will just be standing there plainly or in a bad attempt at humour. like really. i'm a big fan of naruto. most of my e-friends who read naruto are sick of my crack-rants about stupid things i think up, but it really really amazes me about how many people flock to sasuke and make all kinds of crack about him [and now sai, for that matter]. Is there something i'm not getting that the character has that has been written so subtly i haven't picked it up? what's so great about sasuke? i'm more interested in seeing naruto show us the other two stages of Rasengan [not including Odama Rasengan] or finding out about the Akatsuki.. Or finding out about what Jiraiya's been up to all this time! or Konohamaru! i just find i'm personally more interested in the changes in the village rather than just SASUKE. let's see more new designs. we know sasuke will be wearing black or blue and looking angsty. [that'd be a way to shock us, have him wearing something colourful for a change] It's not like i hate you narutards or anything; it's just half the crack you make about sasuke and all, i don't find it funny at all! infact, most naruto crack! someone help me understand.

haha Sasuke is fun to poke fun of because of his stereotype. XD Stereotype popular quiet brooding guy with lots of angst to drown the village fanclub in. It gets boring seeing the stereotype so it's fun to start poking fun at them.
Sai, is a different story XD He's fun to poke fun yet because his personality is plain quirky

Well, Sasuke is a well-drawn character and if you want to look at the Naruto story as a whole, Sasuke is an important character. Everything that’s been painted through the Sennin and Kakashi’s old team show that Naruto comes in threes and Sasuke being saved from the path of darkness seems to be one of the key elements of the series as whole.

Sasuke’s also one of the main characters who hasn’t shown up in over a year and this arc looks Sasuke-friendly so of course several people are excited about him. On another note, I have to say that Sasuke is probably one of the better-drawn angsty-revenge-broken characters I’ve seen in a long time.

no... no i'm sorry i can't agree with that first part. Kakashi's been the only one to come good. Sasuke caved in and went to orochimaru. Regardless of if they get him back or not, it's not like everything will be peaches and cream because they won't be able to trust him. the way i see it, Sasuke is currently a Sound Nin [or a Missing Nin in association with Sound]. If they get Sasuke back, it won't matter. Because they won't be able to trust him, And if they do then i think it's just plain unrealistic in that aspect... Sasuke is too full of himself. He caved in when it came to chosing right and wrong, and now he'll just have to live with it. I don't think he should be accepted as a leaf ninja ever again.

But since your impression of Sasuke's character is written in ink as the "down-to-the-letter stereotypical anti-hero-ravenge-boy!", there's no point in telling you otherwise.

Hrn. Personally, I think people who complain about Sasuke are just as annoying as the ones that obsess to the extreme about him. Like other people have said, he's a good character, he's an important character, he's a character that's been missing and with his return, there is obviously going to be people who are excited for his returning appearance [guilty >>]

Though I DO see where you are coming from. People who are just reading Naruto for Sasuke seriously need to get a life. Because there are so many characters in the whole storyline other then our favorite brooding Uchiha.

I also hate Sakura-bashing Sasuke fans D< Those seem to be the worse kind xD

People uber-fangirl **ALL** the characters from this series. You say the moment Sasuke shows up the nets will be flooded with new!Sasuke fancrap, but the moment they showed Sasori's real face the net was flooded with PRETTY!SASORI fancrap. There's excessive fancrap of EVERYTHING IN NARUTO, people have been poo-ing their pants about seeing ALL of the new character designs for timejump (I had a conniption over Hinata and Kiba :D), people are just talking about Sasuke now because he's the last one to see. And if ya hadn't noticed, Sasuke has a huge fanbase but also, possibly, one of the largest hatebases. I think he's like, the only character (except for Gaara also, because supposedly he eats babies) who have lj hate communities based to them.

So yah. I never understand why people post "I HATE THIS CHARACTER" rants in Chuunin. Blah.

I personally dont like Sasuke as my favorite character, but I don't dislike him, either. I don't really think he's is quite 'stereotype', either. Although some people might like that stereotype (I know I occasionally dont mind it), I think he has a few more layers in him that just the emo anti-hero out for revenge. I'm not going to beat you up and tell you Sasuke is hot, or super-cool, but I really think he's an interesting character. (And, he's fun to draw! XD)

Well, Sasuke has been around a lot longer than Sasori. Like, 200-something chapters more than Sasori.

Sasuke, Kakashi, and Orochimaru are the anti-hero's. Kakashi is broken and has little sense of self. Orochimaru forgot that there was a reason to get power in the first place. Everyone else on Kakashi's team is dead. Orochimaru, Tsunade, and Jiraiya have fallen into the anti-hero, heroine, and hero sin.

Sakura trained under Tsunade. Naruto trained under Jiraiya. Sasuke is training under Orochimaru. On the surface, it seems to be the same. But the big difference is while Jiraiya and Tsunade gave up, Naruto and Sakura didn't.

Having Naruto and Sakura fail in saving Sasuke would go against the core themes of the series, the main one being that Naruto fixes things.

Sasuke's a child who's broken. However, as shown through Haku and Gaara he's willing to die for his friends. The fact is Sasuke didn't kill Naruto. He only knocked out Sakura and even thanked her for the love she gave him and for what could have been.

I'm not implying that it'll be easy, because it won't. But if Naruto and Sakura fail to save Sasuke, that would go against everything being set up.

sure but you were saying fanart came out everywhere when sasori's body was revealed. the fact is, when most of the akatsuki are revealed we'll see waves of fanart. i'm saying it will be significantly larger than the fanart for any other characters; like say, Naruto even.

XD. I'm not saying you have to like Sasuke, but if Sasuke is teh ebol 4eva, it's bad writing. And Naruto has been one of the best manga's I've enjoyed for awhile, and I'd hate for it to go downhil.

Sasuke is nowhere near being my favourite, but this post is pure flamebait ("you narutards", "i can't wait to read replies to this", etc.). I'm sure they'd appreciate this and the 246645 topics like it over at Naruto Forums, though.

I like Sasuke because he is pretty, easy to make fun of, and doesn't grate my nerves. That is probably as good a reason as anyone needs to like a character and make fanart/fanfic/sheer crack of them.

I don't see how this has any relevance to Sasuke's character. It's just you ranting about not wanting to see Sasuke fanart. I don't know where you get your evidence that Sasuke fanart is the most prevelant, and even if it is, it's because he is a HUGELY important character in the series. He's Naruto's, the main character's, rival/best friend deal. He also has a pretty character design. It's just because you don't like the character that you don't want to see art of him.

i like sasuke; he's much deeper than other charectars in the plotline.

and about his being angsty; yes sasuke can be a little dick. but think about it. my friend, as much as i love her, is very angsty and some what depressed because her mother passed away

sasuke's entire family and everyone he grew up with was slaughtered in front of his very eyes for 48 hours by his favorite person. seriously. please just think about it. if someone really went through that, theyd be very screwed up. =P
