Date: 2006-01-20 03:21 pm (UTC)Orochimaru was quite beautiful in this chapter. I especially enjoyed how he was goading Naruto. There has to be another reason for it, besides just 'testing Naruto's strength', and 'comparing him to Sasuke'... It's Orochimaru..he always has multiple motives, and does nothing without a solidified purpose. I am interested to see what else there is..
I also like the fact that Yamato was a genetic experiment of Orochimaru's...That is just intriguing.
And, I thouroughly enjoyed Kabuto and Sakura's banter--Kabuto is being extremely blunt, for once...He is right--Sasuke did go to them on his own, no matter how much people want to believe otherwise. He was prodded a little, but in the end, he left for himself. As my good friend Meg has said, "He brought it on himself."
And Naruto went berserk pretty fast...o.o He is losing his control faster now, at least I think -- though, it was on a touchy subject...actually, the most sensitive subject you can discuss with Naruto, in my opinion...
If there are two missing pages...I'd like to see them....XD

(As for Naruto, I have always thought those two needed to get opver the fact that Sasuke was not kidnapped here. I am not one of these people desperate to see Sasuke, as I am happy with Orochimaru sama, but I will be curious to see what sort of (mental) place Sasuke has found for himself in Sound. :)

Honestly though, I think it goes like this for Kishimoto, he knows his fanbase. The Naruto/Gaara fans got their story arc. During the Rescue Arc, Naruto did a lot of weepy-I-identify-with-him stuff... and he even cried, twice (I think)!
And now he's giving the Naruto/Sasuke fans their arc: Naruto's done plenty of Sasuke fanboying, and this chapter is like... the epitome of possessive!Naruto. XP

Date: 2006-01-20 09:24 pm (UTC)And it will be lightyears before it makes it to the US. As CN has only agreed to air about 80 episodes (at the moment). Since its that far down the line, it may not show up on North American television at all.
And the clone thing, or whatever, I think it definitely adds to Orochimaru's "resume" (for lack of a better word) as a scientist that does gruesome and heinous things. Not only did he experiment on humans (which we knew about before) but he experimented on children. And a lot of those children died. Kishimoto is pushing the "evil" characteristic here, to make Oro even more of a villian.
Making Oro even more evil even adds to the threat of another villian -- Itachi. Orochimaru is not at all fond of Itachi (maybe scared of him?) so... what does that say about how evil Itachi must be?
Kishimoto, like other storytellers --be it manga or literature-- uses elements like these to build character. I think he's doing an awesome job ^_^
