Translation.

BTW, the raw was already posted on this community a few posts back.
And to me, Naruto is acting gayer and looking freakier than ever.

AH! Of course!

I bet Sasuke's going to come back and scream 'I LOVE YOU' at Naruto and he'll be back to his non-Kyuubi self and they'll all live happily ever after and have lots of mpreg babies together.

God, I hate ff.net. *ignores fact that she posts stuff there*

*snerks*

All right. I get what you're saying in part, Kishimoto does seem to be mega-pulling things out of his ass. And the furry is getting closer and closer to the creepy side. Honestly, I figure he's just stalling until he can reveal his goldengoth boy in 300. So he's got nothing better to do but play Super-Saiyan for the next several chapters with the constant exchange of taunts and power ups. Only Naruto's taunts are kinda limited to "grr argh." And since he's all instinctual right now, all he's got on his mind is the protect mechanism. It has always been his greatest dream to protect Sasuke after all. And I mean that in the most non-ghei manner possible. Although I do use it in my essays on their relationship. So the brain's only working with one cog right now so to speak.

But now he's just so ...*GRUNT* ME NARUTO. YOU SASUKE. *swings on a vine and brings him home*

LOL. The images.

But back to my defense position, I'm going to give Kishimoto a break for now not that he deserves one but only because this is how I want to pretend he thinks and that he's not picking plotlines out of a big hat and say that Naruto's responses could be more influenced by his kyuubi nature. Demons, and animalistic ones in exact, can be very one-track-mindish. He knows what he wants. He wants his buddy back. He won't let anyone tell him that he's being foolish. He won't let anyone tell him anything than what he wants to believe. Yes, he's being immature and a bit nuts. But he's also behaving in a very beastial manner. Having Team 7 around gave Naruto a balance he never had before and a routine he enjoyed. He wants that normalcy back because it grounds him, more or less. Again, an animalistic trait. Do tell me when I'm taking my metaphor too far. Beast/man is my writing delicacy.

So I do see him getting quite physically and probably alpha-ish with Sasuke, should he return. The scenario you painted me not be too far off. If Naruto can actually manage to outdo Sasuke this time.

But seriously, I can see this. Before, Naruto, as a child, had better control of Kyuubi per se, because he had less bonds to stabilize his emotions. He was more distant. As the bonds strengthen around him and as he becomes closer to his teammates, the risk of him(including the hormone factor now) losing grip on his human nature and instead giving in to the Kyuubi's more primal instincts when someone he loves is in danger, strengthens also. *strokes chin*

Wow, I think you took it to an even better level than I would have thought of. It almost equates to the way Sasuke was better off without having friends since he knew they would only be used to further his sharingan, slow him down or solve as emotional obstacles should anything happen to them. As one-dimensional as you call it, the way you're analyzing it gives it layers that make the characters and storyline much more gray and slightly dark. Although Naruto always did have its touch of darkness to begin with, thanks to Orochimaru. I'm beginning to think fans really should write this series now. ^^;;

And it really pisses me off that I have to dash off to work now because this discussion was starting to get good.

I agree with this! Or, and I hope I'm reading you correctly, this is more about Kyuubi responses than Naruto's responses. It's a delicate balance, but Kyuubi represents the corruption of every feeling of man (and Naruto, also). Naruto in his natural form is not alpha-malish at all. He has charisma but seems to have a very healthy relationship with power and authority (ie, he doesn't care unless they get in his way).

Naruto isn't self-righteous -- that's too twisted an emotion, based on too super-ego driven belief. This is the Kyuubi anger combined with his hurt. As a character he's very id-driven, which is why, while I wouldn't label him one way or the other, he always strikes me as being at least aesthetically painted as the uke.

I don't see Naruto going at Sasuke grunting and tracing his territory, that's Kyuubi's instinct. I actually see Naruto cry and insult him in his childish way or being stoic like he's been lately before that.

I hope you don't mind me jumping in ;) but I gotta disagree about Naruto's self-righteousness. That implies a position of condescention and superiority to Sasuke he doesn't display at all -- he's just very angry, and Naruto's not famous for his control. He'll just yell (and growl, in this form which doesn't really reflect his personality but a very basic corruption of it) at anything that upsets him. :)

heheh, well. He didn't seem hell-bent on the bonding with Sai, though.

I think, though, that you're very right that he needs to learn a lot of things about choices, freedom and the delicate balance it has with his redeeming compulsion. :) (Although we'll probably disagree on his wanting to save Sasuke, which I think is very right.) I enjoy this because I enjoy reading his character, other than just Naruto (<3) also as someone on a hero's path.

I think, at base, Naruto is just... pretty emotionally retarded. XD Good for a character, but he can't understand Sasuke and this is just setting things up for some big wake up call soon.

I actually think Sai will end up giving a damn. But. That's just wishful thinking for canon gay on my part.

I agree that bonds between men being exciting even without sex, but. Damn, Sai is so obvious about it. Plus, while we *do have* gay subtext to give idenitity crisis to any straight teenage boy reading, there's not been the gay text so far, I mean, an actual character which is gay for... I dunno, Naruto? Him being the main character and so charismatic.

Hey, I am pretty big on Kakashi/Gai. And Jiraiya is the sexiest man in the universe. <3 I ship Tsunade/Naruto though, not Gai.

Ahaha don't worry I don't think Naruto will save Itachi from the darkness. XD Or Kakashi, at that. But it's his role in the manga, you know, being the redeemer... err, tell me if I am getting carried away.

Heh, this could get a long discussion if you'd like...

Mostly I was quoting the pairings we shared because you mentioned it. I am a Sasunaru girl first and foremost, I am kinda into Neji/Hinata and then I'm developing this huge fondness for NaruHina. I like Shika and Tema. Then I have my perversions which are Jiraiya/Naruko and Sakura/Naruko (but only the girl!!!) Itachi/Naruto is sexy. Oh my god. You said it wasn't about pairings but what it is about pairings that makes me make compulsive lists?

I know what you mean about fangirls and I think fangirlism at its worst gives a shallow reading of it and takes a lot away from Naruto, but Naruto as a story (outside fandom) could only improved with a queer character.

Most importantly, I still see Naruto as the underdog; he's kind of a blend -- a charismatic boy with a developing following, and someone who some people still enjoy taunting and think of a stupid and foolish and, well, weak. I don't see the redeemer figure as an annoying jehova's witness schtick... well, I guess it goes to archetypes and preferences, but Naruto is a Christ figure and, while I don't think he does it out of self-righteousness or seeks out people to save, I think the life he led drives him to feel a lot of empathy for people who are lonely/dark/kinda mad and he can't help himself. He helps them, he's compassioned. I respect your right to dislike it! But that's the kind of hero I love the most. :=)

Itachi x feelings is very weird to anyone, I think! Which is why it's fascinating to explore the weirdness, especially w/ a character who's the epitome of emotionally-driven like Naruto. But yeah, it's also that they look pretty together. I'm shallow that way. :D

I hope I didn't give you the impression I wanted to convert you. :) I really understand what you're saying, it's just that I'm reading it differently. I think Naruto yells not because he has to express his emo feelings (although, he's been more emo than usual lately, okay) but just because he has no control. And, probably growth twisted some of that rage and made it more difficult to tolerate. So you see dramatics and I see an unretentive kid :D

I really like Gai and Lee you know. I cried like a moron during the Lee vs Gaara fight.

And I hate to drop this conversation like this but I'm going to have to study... maybe we could continue later? So the thread can eat a sandwitch or something.

While I am inclined to agree, it's hard to complain that everything revolves around Naruto, when the series is called Naruto. :/

Okay, I'm confused and I hope I'm not the only one ;__; but at the end of 292 someone was crawling out of Orochimaru's mouth. Um, what happened with that? It jumps from there to Naruto drowning in Kyuubi chakra. *blinks slowly*

I think that was Orochimaru, crawling out of Orochimaru... Like, shedding the skin that was ruined from the first attack, or, something...I think.

xD naw... I found it kinda odd too... even though Orochimaru is one of my favourite characters I was like ... WTF? and waited patiently toi get the explaination... it never came D:

Orochimaru

sagegoat, I love your icon.
Orochimaru crawling out of his own mouth was cool, but not done too well. Yeah, it's like shedding a skin, but the one he crawled out of didn't turn inside out. It should have. Because that would have shocked Naruto out of his overall rage. I mean, hand come out of Oro's mouth, and then pushing his other body down like getting out of a wet speedo. ~imagines Oro kicking his used skin of his feet like a pair of pants~ x3
I think it would be pretty damn hard for anyone to fight after that.

Naruto's new flaws like his uncontrollable anger and unwillingness to listen to reason when Sasuke is concerned are simply things that he must overcome in order to mature as a character,as a ninja and as a man.

The more you dislike him now the more you will love him later.

Makes perfect sense and may be brought up at some point later in the series. Afterall, Naruto is still maturing and therefore has yet to learn so much.
