New, and a question XD

Hey, I'm new to both LJ and this community, so this is my welcome post, I guess. ^^

Anyway, I had a ton several questions about Oto no Kuni (Land of Sound) for a fanfic I'm writing.

Not sure if this is still considered spoilers, but... yeah. Putting it behind a cut anyway. If it is spoilers, it's for ch. 115+, probably.


Several questions: is it known exactly when Orochimaru left Konoha and established Otogakure? This entire area is a bit fuzzy in the manga. Also, do you think that there were shinobi in the vicinity before? Did he just walk in and convert some of the ninja there to his side? If not, where did all his minions (heh) come from? The Kaguya clan was wiped out when they attacked the Mist village, but I can't find if it says where the clan was originally from.

I don't think any of this is ever specified, but I'd like to get some opinions. Feel free to post ^^

...please don't hesitate to tell me, also, if I'm asking stupid things/this is against the rules XD

There's nothing in the manga about any of that, no, but you might find it helpful to watch the Rice Field Country/Fuuma Clan filler arc in the anime. It addresses a lot of those questions -- not very well, if you ask me, but it might give you some ideas.

I'm afraid I don't remember exactly, but it starts almost immediately after the end of Part 1, which happened in 135.

It's supposed that Orochimaru left Konoha because he wasn't appointed as Yondaime. So that means he left after Yondaime became Yondaime (and many people connect that with the Kyuubi --> someone had to awake that demon).

We also know that Orochimaru joined the Akatsuki before Itachi. Then Itachi joins. Then Oro leaves. It is in the first part of Naruto that the Akatsuki mention they don't have Oro anymore, so they have to make up for the power they lost with him.

I'm not sure about the info before. It's stuff I've read in forums and discussions over the years.

Also, you might want to check this: here it says Orochimaru started teaching Anko 2 years before Kyuubi and left sometime between those to years and the Kyuubi happening.

Short answer is no (sadly).

This is a really messy area of timeline and I spend an awful lot of thinking about it trying to work it out. :D We've only got that flashback scene of Sandaime discovering Orochimaru's kinjutsu, and it's hard to place it in time as Orochimaru sama always looks the same, and Sarutobi was Sandaime before (obviously) but also after Yondaime's death, so...

The question more is like when did he leave Konoha and join Akatsuki because there's his Akatsuki years before Otogakure, and his leaving of Akatsuki and Itachi's joining is messy too, timeline wise. >,< It's all too complicated! My mind, it burns! XD

I think so, but no Hidden Village. So not a lot of them maybe.

Well, the implication, from the way we see him recruit Zaku and Kimimaro is that he was looking for certain types of people to join him, people who were either very powerful or very ambitious, but socially disenfranchised or down on their luck, if you will. In the filler arc, the whole Fuuma clan join him because they were looking for a way to restore their clan's fortunes. So things like this.

Well, I think they were from Mist too. I am not sure though. ^_^
