Questions

I was wondering about the Kakashi Gaiden. I heard the fillers are ending soon, and I was wondering if they're going to do the Gaiden as part of the anime, as a movie, or as something completely different. Does anyone know?

I also just started an RP (not a Naruto one, but a Yu Yu Hakusho one, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]. I've seen a lot of awesome Naruto RP stuff on this community, s I have a few questions for those people:

1.) How do you organize that plot? Do you just say, "this is the plot we're doing right now" have a vote, or what? (Although the main RP plotline is based on the anime canon, the subplots will be original.)

2.) How do you get people to join your game? (I've just been advertising in my personal lj and such.)

3.) How do you begin/end an RP?

If this post is inappropiate, let me know and I'll change/delete it.
Thanks for your time and consideration!

Fillers won't end soon. Filler will continue... For how long that's something no one knows...

But I am pretty sure that they will animate Kakashi Gaiden then. Not sure if it will be a special or regular episodes...~ No one knows yet. We will find out soon enough.

I have only experience as a LARP/tabletop ST, but it depends on what sort of game you intend to run. In a real life roleplay, it's usual to begin a game with some initial plots in place as it opens. Quite often, their future is determined by what players then do with them, so often players do drive plot to an extent, but they have a starting point. Sounds to me like you have that starting plot (following canon), so a lot of stuff would flow from that.

(Please note; it is a roleplaying universal law that no plot survives contact with the players!)

I would always ask opinions about what sort of plot players enjoy to make sure the game has the right general content for the people playing, but I think as an ST, in the end, you have to just present plot without debating it (if you debate it, it won't be a surprise for the players! :D)

I'd start any RP with an event. It doesn't have to be a big one, but something that will get the characters' attention, or will be brought to their attention by an NPC, and get them interacting. It has to be something relevant (to get their interest), and maybe needs to threaten them (always a great motivator! lol!) or presents them with the possibility of a reward they can't ignore in character. The charcters need a reason to start interacting and the RPers need something to work with to get them started (starting a new character in a new game is hard, though it's less hard if you're taking up an established personality, say from an anime).

As for ending a game, it's the conclusion of the main plot. In AD&D, it might be escaping the dungeon with the treasure and sitting down to divide it up. Hopefully, your players should all go away happy having achieved at least some of their character's goals.

(Of course, this might leave sub plot loose ends; if it's a one shot campaign, you got to try to tie them up before the end. If it's one adventure in a chronicle, they can spill over and keep going...)

And that's my 2pence worth on running an rp...:D

Fillers should be ending in April-- we don't know about Kakashi Gaiden yet, but one would hope they will animate that soon....
