This is a question for those that seen the second movie just cause if you havent you would never understand it...also spoilers :D

This question is refering to the fight he had with the electricty person. She says you cant beat electricty(WTF there) so gaara says "unless you have electricity" Thus introduces Suna Raishin-Thunder God of Sand

"Let there be lightning said Gaara of the Desert. "

I am by all means a huge Gaara fan but i was just staring at the screen when this happend. Is there something im missing. The only logic i can come up with was that he somehow liked absorbed the attack or something.

Besides that the fight was kick ass :D till my brain blew with Thunder God of Sand. If only he had that in the seris >3

Wasn't the previous Hokage's sand magnetics based? If Gaara was using magnetically charged sands, then that'd basically make the principle of the lightning rods actually sound, I think. :)

It seems that a lot of anime shows that include lightning-based attacks prefer to use "thunder" in the names, possibly because it's easier to say than "lightning."

Arguing semantics nonewithstanding, it still sounds cool.

The bad part about that scene was I kept thinking, "But when lightning hits sand, it makes that pretty beach glass stuff..." But there was no glass!
...my brain gets caught up on weird things.

Think about this, when a person uses a Sandblaster (like for removing paint or whatever) an electrical charge is created. Put that on Gaara's level, and I've sure that by using the friction of his sand coupled with the dryness of the air (sand absorbs moisture like nothing else, lol) and I believe that Gaara could generate a pretty decent magnetic field, if he wanted to.

...and besides, the movie isn't exactly "canon" by any stretch of the imagination, so Gaara can do whatever the hell he wants, lol.
